Henry or Theo?

What do people prefer out of these two boys names?
PaulinePetrovaPosey · 30/07/2020 13:35
Henry. I know dozens of baby Theos.
Hortensien · 30/07/2020 13:36
Both very popular, but if I had to choose, then Theodore.
MikeUniformMike · 30/07/2020 13:36
I'm not mad keen on either but Henry is a classic, whereas Theos seem to be everywhere. I dislike Theodore.
Leo is nicer.
Grufallosfeiends · 30/07/2020 13:38
Neither as both very popular. But probably Theo if I must choose.
Scoobyscoobedydoo · 30/07/2020 13:39
Henry.
JacquelineLadyBugg · 30/07/2020 14:08
Henry.
I have never heard Theo pronounced in a nice way ever. I don't know why, but where I live, it's always being bellowed across a park or shop. I'm near London, so it's a barky "FEE-OH!!!".
If you live on the West coast of Ireland or in Edinburgh, or somewhere with similarly soft accents, then disregard this^^.
sweetnosugar · 30/07/2020 15:35
Theo, definitely.
I think it’s lovely, I don’t know anyone with the name Theo.
However Henry is my brothers name, as well as three other Henry’s on my husbands side, the name of my neighbours little boy, and a few more at my eldest school. It’s a lovely name, granted. But in my social circle it’s very popular.
PlantPotting · 30/07/2020 15:42
I really like both! Sorry not much help but they're both good so you can't go wrong
BinkyBoinky · 30/07/2020 15:44
Theo!
Goyle · 30/07/2020 15:45
Henry. Theo is pretentious.
howfarwevecome · 30/07/2020 15:50
They're both quite popular around here, especially Theo.
Thad (Thaddeus) is similar but not as common if you're not sure about the popularity of the other two names.
17caterpillars1mouse · 30/07/2020 16:26
Definitely Henry. Theodore / Theo is very overdone in my area
Amanda87 · 30/07/2020 19:30
Theo for sure!
Starbuggy · 30/07/2020 22:33
Definitely Henry
Theo is mangled as Fee-oh in too many places which sounds horrible
Oly4 · 30/07/2020 22:36
Henry, a beautiful name.
I hate Theo.
Neither name is popular where I live!
BeMorePacific · 30/07/2020 22:41
Henry 😍♥️
123Dancewithme · 31/07/2020 00:16
Henry. Theo is going to date badly.
DramaAlpaca · 31/07/2020 00:17
Henry
TheVanguardSix · 31/07/2020 00:26
They were both on my shortlist, 19 years ago.
My son is Theo. Henry is a wonderful name. You can't go wrong, either way. But I think Theodore is very, very, very popular now, going by the MN baby name threads.
ZoyaTheDestroyer · 31/07/2020 08:59
Both lovely names so it really depends what matters to you. They are both very popular. Henry has been more consistently popular, whereas Theo has spiked more recently and might be more likely to date. Theo will feel more popular than its statistics suggest as you need to combine it with all of the Theodores.
Awwlookatmybabyspider · 31/07/2020 09:01
Theo. I really dislike Henry.
Cbeebiesrehab · 31/07/2020 09:53
Theo/Theodore is easily the most popular boys name around here (also Teddy-usually a diminutive of Theodore!) although that might not be an issue for you. I think Henry, although popular, is more of a classic.
GanderousGoose · 06/08/2020 21:18
My DS13 is Theo. There were hardly any then! I think it's a lovely name and not at all pretentious. Henry isn't a name I particularly like but it's a good, strong name that will stand the test of time.
