Ok so I think we have agreed on Aurie for a boys name what do we think of this name?

Also any suggestions for a middle name to go with it would be appreciated I can't seem to find one! Tia

Barnaby
Laurence

Aw-ree or Oh-ray or Oh-ree?
That’s not a name I’ve heard before.
How about James for the middle name?

bridgetreilly · 27/07/2020 18:16

Well, it sounds like a name he'll have to spend his whole life telling people how to spell and/or pronounce. It also sounds quite feminine to me. And it looks like a typo for Aubrey or Laurie.

But other than that, sure, go for it.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 27/07/2020 18:18

Another one who has no idea how to pronounce it.

Lavenderblues · 27/07/2020 18:20

I'd pronounce Aurie like Laurie without the L.

emilyx123 · 27/07/2020 18:22

Yes it's pronounced Laurie without the L.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I would pronounce Laurie as Lorry so
Aurie = Orry ?

Lavenderblues · 27/07/2020 19:09

Laurie and Aurie are like the beginning of Laurence or Aurelius.

Lorry is completely different Hmm

MrsGilly1 · 27/07/2020 19:43

I prefer Ori X

goldeline · 27/07/2020 19:45

I pronounce Laurie as Lorry too. Could be my Scottish accent though!

MintyMurray17 · 27/07/2020 20:02

I've not come across Aurie before. It's similar in style to Arlo.

Middle name suggestions: Aurie Sebastian, Aurie Nathaniel, Aurie Frederick

Alternative first name suggestions: Rory, Aubrey, August

villamariavintrapp · 27/07/2020 20:08

Doesn't feel very complete to me, like just the start of a word.. what about Oren, but orey as nickname?

Manteo · 27/07/2020 20:35

I'd pronounce lorry and Laurie the same.

borisjohnsonsstylist · 27/07/2020 20:54

Not a name I've heard of before but a quick google tells me it's a girls name, urban dictionary lists it as a term for the cutest girl in the world.

DappledThings · 27/07/2020 21:36

@goldeline

I pronounce Laurie as Lorry too. Could be my Scottish accent though!
SE England here and I'd pronounce Laurie as Lorry. The first syllable of Laurence, Aurelius, Lori, Laurie and lorry all sound the same to me.
