I thought Briar was a girls name- which I quite like.

I like Grayson or Graham for a boy with the nn Gray.

Not keen on Ford.

InTheWings · 26/07/2020 09:14

No, no and no, would be my reaction to those 3 options.

Flappingflamingo · 26/07/2020 09:43

Briar is a girls name and just no to the other 2

emilybrontescorsett · 26/07/2020 09:45

Out of the 3 I’d pick Briar but would hate it if people confused it with Brian.

flooredbored · 26/07/2020 10:08

Ford is the best of the bunch.. Briar makes me think of Briar Rose. I find the colour grey a bit dull.

rejectedprincess · 26/07/2020 11:42

Ford is great! Strong and unusual. I have it on my list for a boy.

aprilfools19 · 26/07/2020 11:54

I absolutely love the name briar and it’s on my short list but for a girl. I’d go with Grey of those 3 but much prefer greyson

Thisismytimetoshine · 26/07/2020 11:55

@JaJaDingDong

Why can't people just choose from actual names for their kids? It's not like there's only a limited selection.

One of our au pairs told me that in Czech they have to use approved names. You can't just make a name up. I approve of this!

So do I!
MikeUniformMike · 26/07/2020 12:19

Briar - I'd think he was a girl. Brian?
Ford - it worked for Ford Maddox Ford, but I wouldn't use it.
Grey - Red is a lot better.

CherryPavlova · 26/07/2020 12:29

Poor child. They’d be even called Escort or fifty with the last two. Probably Rose with the first.
Then you’ll complain they’re being bullied.
What’s wrong with Hugo, Richard, Christopher or Phillip?

Thefaceofboe · 26/07/2020 19:55

I love grey! It’s on my list. People who automatically think of 50 shades of grey are weird in my opinion Blush

SoPanny · 26/07/2020 19:59

I like Ford but yeah.... Prefect or Cortina Sad

I like Gray (not Grey) but it’s quite somber. Don’t agree about the 50 Shades thing.

Briar is a girls’ name; I know two, both Autumn babies.

Thisismytimetoshine · 26/07/2020 19:59

People who call their children the literal colour of dust and rainclouds are weird in mine.

Twelve8Ts · 26/07/2020 21:37

I love Ford. This is what I would have chosen if I’d had a boy, but just had a girl. Never seen anyone else suggest it before!
I don’t think of the car, I think of it as a surname type name. Like Mason, Harrison, Cooper etc. Same feel.
My friend just had a little Grey, really suits him.

bridgetreilly · 26/07/2020 21:40

Ford Prefect!!!

Briar is a girl's name.

Socialdistancing · 26/07/2020 21:42

Sorry but they are all bad. If I had to choose one I guess grey as short for graham

DappledThings · 26/07/2020 21:44

None of them. I would pick an actual name.

FredaFox · 26/07/2020 21:44

Gray was my great grandads name, I like it

lakeswimmer · 26/07/2020 21:46

Grey is the least worst of a bad selection. The only Briar I know is female.

ZeldalovesLink · 26/07/2020 22:44

If I absolutely had to choose it would be Briar but I really don’t like any of them.

lemyn · 26/07/2020 23:44

@JaJaDingDong They're not even that out there of names. Not everyone wants there child to be the 3rd James or Sophie in their class.

VenusClapTrap · 27/07/2020 09:23

I like Briar for a girl. Quite like Gray (spelt like the name not the colour). Dislike Ford.

BeanbagMcTavish · 27/07/2020 09:40

I have no problem with them being unconventional names. The problem is that they're not very nice names.

SevernJuly · 27/07/2020 10:03

I really like Briar but probably would prefer it for a girl.

justanotherneighinparadise · 27/07/2020 10:06

Briar is nice. Not sure it rolls off the tongue though. I don’t mind Ford but I’d probably want a long version too. Grey - no.
