Also not keen on any of them
Grey - 50 shades
Briar- incorrect spelling of Bryher, one of the Scilly Isles and more commonly used as a girls name
Ford - Mondeo, Focus, Fiesta etc

Divebar · 26/07/2020 00:15

I like Grey - although it sounds like it’s short for Graham. As an aside I don’t think it matters if anyone else likes it. Why does it matter.

june2007 · 26/07/2020 00:22

Grey sounds like the dullest name ever,. If any I quite like Briar.

SillyUnMurphy · 26/07/2020 00:27

If you’re looking for a really unusual name I gather that no boys were named Nigel in the UK last year Grin

AdaColeman · 26/07/2020 00:29

Briar must be one of the Autumn Flower Fairies or friend of Puck and Mustardseed.

SleepingStandingUp · 26/07/2020 00:33

Briar is likely to be misread/heard as Brian which is awful. Briar Rose for a girl is lovely but even then I don't think I could

Grey I'd assume shortening for Graham which is hideous. Or yes 5p Shades Fan. Also it's such a depressing colour. You can't name a baby after the colour of depression and rain clouds.

Ford is a car, which book had Ford as an bad leader? Def don't name him after a car.

Thisismytimetoshine · 26/07/2020 00:37

Brian isn't remotely as awful as Briar!

Liddell · 26/07/2020 00:54

None of them.

123Dancewithme · 26/07/2020 01:02

They’re all awful!

Pieceofpurplesky · 26/07/2020 01:26

Just go for Brian and Graham and shorten them ... Ford could be Fordyce

CaptainCorellisPangolin · 26/07/2020 01:31

Prickly stem, car, colour?
Or
Surname, surname, surname?
Either way, I'm not keen I'm afraid.

I do quite like Graham, which I suppose you could shorten to Grey?

whatausername · 26/07/2020 01:40

Grey - 50 Shades fan, mummy likes it rough
Ford - reliable but dull, will be the butt of many a joke
Briar - only ever known girls with the name

So. Uhmmm. Keith? 😂😂

CuppaZa · 26/07/2020 01:48

None of those. Sorry

Heathcliff27 · 26/07/2020 01:51

Not grey, he's the domestic abuse bloke in eastenders

DelphiniumBlue · 26/07/2020 01:54

Ford - a very boring sort of car
Grey or Gray - a dull colour and also reminds me of Grayson Perry, and 50 Shades
Briar (Rose) - a princess
I'm sure you can find something more suitable. I'm not seeing a theme with these names so not sure what else you might like. Brian, Graeme, Ben?

TomBradysLeftKneecap · 26/07/2020 01:56

Grey is like a weird sexual term
Ford is a car
So, Briar?! Please don't call your child Briar!

custardbear · 26/07/2020 02:15

Briar is a girls name
Ford - too car like and they're awful cars - id be more inclined to go for Aston ( if I wanted a car name )
Grey - he'll be called Graham or Greyson

Highfalutinlootin · 26/07/2020 02:39

Are you in the U.S.? Ford and Gray/Grey are both very classic, old fashioned deep South (white) boys names. Very regional and uncommon elsewhere in the U.S. let alone in the UK. Not sure I'd go for them if not from there, bit odd.

octoberfarm · 26/07/2020 03:00

Going against the grain here I love Ford, but I do live on the East Coast and so suspect it's just a more normal name here - never heard of it as a name when I was growing up in the UK. It's actually on our list but was never brace enough to ask about it on MN Grin Also really like Gray. Briar I'd assume it was a girls name, sorry.

octoberfarm · 26/07/2020 03:00

*brave, sorry

occa · 26/07/2020 03:10

Briar I love for a girl, but I'd probably assume a boy called Briar was trans/non-binary tbh.

Ford is horrendous.

Grey is meh and a bit...grey, but better than the others.

lemyn · 26/07/2020 03:14

I love Grey!
Also like Ford. Not to keen on Briar but still a nice name.

alexdgr8 · 26/07/2020 03:27

why not

lupin
vauxhall or
beige

Laserbird16 · 26/07/2020 03:32

Yep Ford Prefect all the way. Ask for towels at the baby shower

JaJaDingDong · 26/07/2020 08:46

Why can't people just choose from actual names for their kids? It's not like there's only a limited selection.

One of our au pairs told me that in Czech they have to use approved names. You can't just make a name up. I approve of this!
