Wanting honest opinions on this name or whether my growing interest and consideration of this name for a potential girls name is the pregnancy hormones gone wild.
Appreciate it's not a very common name (UK based) and may be a bit out there for some but I really like the way it sounds and love the possible nicknames that come with it.

Any other pretty J girl name suggestions also welcome! Without intending we've set up a trend of J names in our family and am now feeling that it would be nice to continue the trend for this one so they're not the odd one out. Don't know if is a boy or a girl. Have loads of possible J names for boys but have used up the only other J name I really liked on my daughter already. I like June/Juno but prefer to have as nicknames and have something longer as full name.

Jodie, Josephine, Juliette, Judith, Jenna, Jada, Jacqueline, Jemima

I do like Juniper though

I know a toddler Juniper. Her nns are Junie and Junebug.

I prefer June or Juno. I don’t like the ‘nipper’ sound.

DramaAlpaca · 24/07/2020 22:05

I much prefer Juno or June.

CoddledAsAMommet · 24/07/2020 22:07

I want to like it, but actually hear Juniper: Nipper of Jews.
Which is unfortunate as it should be very pretty.

wowfudge · 24/07/2020 22:08

Same sound, but different letter - what about Genevieve?

missmouse101 · 24/07/2020 22:09

I do think it's sweet, but I agree about the nipper bit. It doesn't sound great unfortunately.

Gobolino80 · 24/07/2020 22:11

I like it, but prefer Juno.

bluebellation · 24/07/2020 22:12

Sweet, I used to know a Japanese woman called Juniper, who was absolutely lovely, so I'd use it happily.

solidaritea · 24/07/2020 22:14

Personally don't love Juniper but its certainly not a wild choice. Pp suggested some other nice, long J names. How about Jocelyn?

Whatsyourflava · 24/07/2020 22:16

Juniper is nice. I also prefer Juno though

Mandalalorianna · 24/07/2020 22:16

I love Jennifer Juniper

MothershipG · 24/07/2020 22:20

What's wrong with Julie? Why are there no baby Julies? Asking for a friend 😊🤣🤣

I really like Juniper, great choice.

ChocolateCoffeeCake · 24/07/2020 22:22

Have you seen Workin Moms? Great tv show, hilarious. There's a Juniper on that but she's about 17.

Isawabluebird · 24/07/2020 22:22

Lovely name op, rarely used or heard.

Jessabean · 24/07/2020 22:32

Thanks for the replies! It is one that seems to divide with the 'niper' part. For me personally that bit doesn't bother me for some reason though understand how that might put people off.
Good to hear it doesn't sound an absolutely outlandish choice though.

Josephine or anything that would have me Jo type nn is out as is my DD name unfortunately- do love a lot of those names eg Jocasta, Jocelyn bit just too close I feel. Do love Genevieve but wanting to keep with the J theme and not a fan of strange name spellings!

@MothershipG 😂 I know funny enough I do like the name Jules as a nn and With Juliana as a possibility but just don't think I like it quite as much as Juniper and the more Jun- type nn. Don't know why Julie seems dated when so similar really 🤷‍♀️

Jules or jemima

octoberfarm · 25/07/2020 03:53

Love Junioer with the nickname Juno. Beautiful name - different but not too out there. Congratulations on the new little one!

octoberfarm · 25/07/2020 03:54

*Juniper, sorry!

daisypond · 25/07/2020 06:34

I like Juniper. It gets mentioned on here quite a bit. I know a teen Julianne who shortens her name to Julie by preference. June and Juno are good.
Jennifer is good too. Very fresh these days.

Intastellaburst · 25/07/2020 08:14

Jasmine or Jennifer are nice.

Tardigrade001 · 25/07/2020 08:32

I like it! Also Juno and Junia.

zincchannel · 25/07/2020 12:41

Jasmine
Jessica
Jaya
Jemma
Jade
Juliet

yellowfrontdoor · 25/07/2020 13:03

I have a Juniper, sometimes shortened to Juno. The only person to raise an eyebrow was my Granny 😂

I say go for it!

DoTheMaccaroni · 25/07/2020 19:14

I absolutely love it and think it’s growing in ‘popularity’ without yet being popular or overused. I don’t think it’ll ever be a top 20-50 name but I think it’ll become less unusual (in a good way!) not that I don’t love unusual names. My daughter was 1 or 4 born with her name a few years ago!
