Calla Noelle
Calla Fiona
Calle Harlow
Calla Violet

Any other middle name suggestions would be appreciated.

Surname is double barrelled, all together 3 syllables.

Really not a fan of Calla - it sounds like 'Call her'!

Out of all of them, I suppose I would Calla Violet, and I'd definitely not Calla Harlow, but nothing really jumps out as the thing you should Calla except... not Calla Grin sorry!

Callie is much better?

DramaAlpaca · 24/07/2020 20:36

Calla Violet. It flows best of your choices.

Calla Fiona sounds like you're trying to say California.

A big no to Harlow, it's a town in Essex. And who was it who made the comment about how Jean Harlow's surname should have had a 't' on the end instead of a 'w'? Wink

Noelle flows OK, but it's very dated. It'd be OK to honour a relative or for a Christmas baby.

I should point out this is my sisters baby and not mine but she’s asked me to post to ask. She likes Callie but knows a couple of baby Callie’s and would like a unique name. Plus her husband prefers Calla and he is very picky with names.

How are you pronouncing Calla/Calle?

MikeUniformMike · 24/07/2020 20:39

How about Calla Lily?

missmouse101 · 24/07/2020 20:39

I'd suggest Cassia instead, which is beautiful.

chocolatecake1234 · 24/07/2020 20:40

DramaAlpaca I don’t think she’s noticed Calla Fiona sounds like California. They are her two favourite names but I’ll tell her and she’ll probably change her mind 😂

OP posts:
FizzyGreenWater · 24/07/2020 20:45

Yes Cassia would also be a good choice.

Honestly, Calla's not great. It just sounds made up. It really does sound like one of those 'Like x, but a bit unique' so if she likes Callie you can see how she's worked round to this.

If the baby's having the surname from his side of the family, she gets dibs on the first name I say...

Get her on here for some name inspiration!

chocolatecake1234 · 24/07/2020 20:48

FizzyGreenWater

She considered Calla (which means beauty) before Callie. She’s pretty set on it.

Calla Violet. I love Calla!

Sunshines123 · 24/07/2020 20:56

I like violet the best. Definitely think Fiona is like California so is my least favourite

CabernetSoWhat · 24/07/2020 21:00

Also prefer Callie or Cassia. Calla sounds unfinished, like a prefix rather than a full name.

Calla Noelle is too many L sounds.
Calla Fiona does sound a bit like California.
Calla Harlow is awful
Calla Violet sounds like "colour violet", and it's the wrong flower!

Personally, I'd go with a good, solid girl's name in the middle:
Calla Harriet
Calla Grace
Calla Madeleine
Calla Josephine
Calla Beatrix

Whatsyourflava · 24/07/2020 22:23

Calla I don't really like

Sounds a bit like a foot callous to me

MrsGilly1 · 25/07/2020 07:16

How about Callia instead of Calla and Callie?

Callia Elizabeth?
Callia Rose?

flooredbored · 25/07/2020 07:19

I think a middle name that is longer and ends in a consonant sound, would work better. It’s quite a tricky one. Violet would be the best of the bunch.

Elizabeth
Juliet

Sheenais · 25/07/2020 07:31

Calla is actually a pretty, cool sounding name. Are the middle names family names? They all sound really insipid, but no one uses middle names so it doesn’t really matter. If they are choice though they are really really boring, especially next to Calla.

daisypond · 25/07/2020 08:26

I rather like Calla.
Noelle has too many Ls next to Calla. A bit dated.
Fiona. I like this. It’s the nicest name. But the California thing hadn’t occurred to me. I still like it and it’s my favourite.
Harlow is a horrid name.
Violet. Don’t like it. And it seems too flowery next to Calla.

zincchannel · 25/07/2020 11:26

"Colour violet" was my first thought when I read Calla Violet too. Though I'll admit Violet is the nicest of the lot.

Calla Harlot is awful. I'm neutral on the other two.

I'm not keen on Calla either, I prefer Carla (which also isn't in the top 500), or Callie.

zincchannel · 25/07/2020 11:28

Gosh, sorry, I meant to put Harlow, not Harlot Blush I had it in my head, that's why!

MikeUniformMike · 25/07/2020 13:10

Foot callous is callus.

I suggested Calla Lily.

Carla is better than Calla, or how about Caroline nn Cally.

DramaAlpaca · 25/07/2020 13:17

@MikeUniformMike Calla is a type of Lily so Calla Lily, while very pretty, doesn't really work.

I thought you were having one of your little jokes when you suggested it upthread Wink

MikeUniformMike · 25/07/2020 13:37

Me? Surely not.
Wink

I don't really like Calla (Cal-uh) but Cally is nice.

17caterpillars1mouse · 25/07/2020 13:41

I really like Calla

Calle Noelle is lovely, especially if she is due around Christmas time?

The other names are nice too, though not a fan of Harlow

OrangeJ · 25/07/2020 14:29

I think people are being a bit harsh on Calla. I think it’s really pretty and unsual.

I like Calla Noelle best ☺️

IamMaz · 25/07/2020 14:43

I prefer it as Carla - like a PP.
