Ok so DH and I have narrowed our name choice down to two. I prefer Henry and DH prefers Jacob. What are people’s preferences out there?

Henry by a mile. It has so much more weight and character than Jacob.

100% Henry

Bigoldwimp · 17/07/2020 17:37

I like the name Jacob and we chose it , however , it gets a very “meh” reaction and I sort of wish I’d gone for his middle name which is braver

Oh no @Bigoldwimp I really love the name Jacob and it no way gets a meh reaction from me! I know know 1. What sort of name is the middle name , if you don't want to say maybe what sort of number in the charts? If he wants when older he can always use his middle name

PlantPotting · 17/07/2020 18:02
  • I only know 1

Henry

Bigoldwimp · 17/07/2020 19:46

@plantpotting So do I, it’s a happy name and goes well with his brothers. His middle name would be on a par with say Atticus or Orlando so not at all in the top 100 but not a trendy name either. On the upside I’ve never known an ugly or unpleasant Jacob they are always nice.

daisypond · 17/07/2020 20:19

Henry.
James is the anglicised version of Jacob - just to put that out there.

Reader1984 · 17/07/2020 20:20

Jacob.

MummaSt · 17/07/2020 20:25

Henry, definitely

finallychangedmyusername · 17/07/2020 20:32

Both are great but Jacob is one of my favourite names, so, Jacob.

sweetnosugar · 17/07/2020 20:57

Definitely Henry.

There are plenty of parts of the U.K. where a Henry would be assumed to be posh. Jacob is much easier to fit in anywhere. Do you like Jake as a nickname? Because that’s what he will probably be known as by his friends.

Anappleaday1 · 18/07/2020 09:42

Jacob.
@Bigoldwimp I would never consider it a 'meh' name and I don't think many people in real life would either, I think there is generally going to preference for more unusual names on any name forum so opinions can be a bit skewed

flooredbored · 18/07/2020 09:45

Henry.
