Elodie I love
Naomi I hate due to pronunciation issues and "Nay" sounds like a horse

sweetnosugar · 16/07/2020 10:52

Love Elodie!

wishing3 · 16/07/2020 10:53

Both lovely, but Naomi. Elodie could’ve a bit of a rising trend, whereas Naomi is classic but unusual.

FrugiFan · 16/07/2020 10:57

I like both but I Elodie is slightly nicer as it has a softer sound

DramaAlpaca · 16/07/2020 10:58

Naomi for me.

Elodie looks pretty written down, but to me it only sounds nice in a French accent.

backin199one · 16/07/2020 11:03

Elodie is likely to date as it's only had a sharp rise in popularity very recently. That being said, I do love it and think it's much nicer than Naomi.

Whatsyourflava · 16/07/2020 11:12

It's never clear to me if Naomi is meant to be a two or a three syllable name. I really dislike it but love the name Elodie- not met one

LilacSloth · 16/07/2020 11:16

I love Naomi - but you will definitely get different pronunciations.

Elodie is fine but it doesn't have the gravitas Naomi does.

GinWithASplashOfTonic · 16/07/2020 11:17

Love love Elodie.

Also really like Naomi but not as much

HD98 · 16/07/2020 12:02

Definitely Elodie for me!

5LeafPenguin · 16/07/2020 12:03

Elodie

NotYourDawg · 16/07/2020 12:06

I'm a child of the 70's/80's and Naomi is akin to Louise, it was everywhere when I was growing up.

Elodie was one of my choices for my youngest (now 7) it's a beautiful name. I've not seen many around although reading other posts it seems it may now be popular.

Popular isn't a bad thing if you truly love the name though.

RuthW · 16/07/2020 13:08

Elodie

Two ways of saying Naomi puts me off

Peachbubble · 16/07/2020 13:14

Elodie, not a fan of Naomi.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 16/07/2020 13:22

Naomi

missmouse101 · 16/07/2020 13:28

Elodie sounds like the letters L O D. Naomi is lovely.

mummabubs · 16/07/2020 13:40

I say Naomi (but then I am one so was always going to be biased!) My name gets pronounced many different ways and in fact we noticed last Christmas that my own family don't say my name the way I do but it honestly doesn't bother me in the slightest!)

FizzyGreenWater · 16/07/2020 14:15

Oh sorry neither.

Elodie - yes, L. O. D. ! Also just don't really like it much - it would blend in to all the faceless El-names and would be shortened to yet another of the 50 billion Ellies that are around.

Naomi - not great, more than one pronunciation, just a bit harsh and not much to it?

MikeUniformMike · 16/07/2020 14:31

Not keen on either of them.
Elodie is rising in popularity but seems like yet another meh El- name.
Naomi gets said in several different ways -- Nay-uh-mi, Nigh-Oh-mi, etc which puts me off.

Of the two Naomi.

123Dancewithme · 16/07/2020 14:31

Naomi, definitely!

Lyricallie · 16/07/2020 14:34

Definitely Naomi but I think that's because I knew an Elodie that annoyed me so I'm probably biased.

Pinkypink · 16/07/2020 20:10

Elodie is beautiful.
I have one so am biased.
Naomi (Nay-oh-mi) for me is a mouthful, nair-me doesn't sound nice and Ny-oh-mi sounds harsh. Plus correcting people often would irritate me
