Partly to prove a point to DH, partly to confirm my thoughts is the above name for a boy or girl in your mind?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Bmidreams · 14/07/2020 13:39

It's a band.

No.
AdultFishcakes · 14/07/2020 13:40

And no peeping at Nameberry either...

More a name for a Phil Collins fronted rock band I’d say Smile

Gene for a boy. Genevieve for a girl

Thisismytimetoshine · 14/07/2020 13:41

It's for a deity, not a mere human...

NewIdeasToday · 14/07/2020 13:42

It’s not a suitable name for either.

utterlynutty · 14/07/2020 13:42

It's the first book in the Old Testament.

Puppybum · 14/07/2020 13:42

I liked Genesis with Peter Gabriel

heartshapedcloud · 14/07/2020 13:43

Girls name to me!

NannyR · 14/07/2020 13:43

A book.

Magicbabywaves · 14/07/2020 13:43

Boy?

TinyMetalBirds · 14/07/2020 13:43

If I came across someone called Genesis Smith, to be honest I don’t think I would have a clue whether they were male or female, could be either. Gene is a boy’s name so there’s that, but Jen is a girl’s name. I am increasingly envisaging Genesis Smith as an old bearded man, but she could also be a crime fighting futuristic space girl in a catsuit.

FelicityPike · 14/07/2020 13:44

I’m surprised it’s not written as “Jennysis”.
It’s not a name.

lookatmyclevername · 14/07/2020 13:44

My friends daughter is called Genesis, so it's a girls name as far as I'm aware.

ExtremelyBoldSquirrels · 14/07/2020 13:45

I’d guess at boy. I think. No idea why.

onedaysoonish · 14/07/2020 13:45

Do you like Phil Collins? I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke...

It reminds me of Patrick Bateman. And the chainsaw and the see through anorak.

BillyAndTheSillies · 14/07/2020 13:45

The Genesis that I know is male.

BalloonSlayer · 14/07/2020 13:46

Before I clicked on this thinking (oh please,no, poor kid) a second thought crossed my mind which was "why do I think it's a boy's name?"

It could be shortened to both Jenny and Sissy so I guess it would be better as a girl's name. But, please no.

onalongsabbatical · 14/07/2020 13:46

It's the first book in the Bible and it means origin or beginning, and would be an extremely pretentious name for a child, almost like calling a child God...

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 14/07/2020 13:46

Book of

Or the band

ExtremelyBoldSquirrels · 14/07/2020 13:47

I did just look on nameberry and allegedly it’s a top 100 girls name (but totally unisex really) in whatever bizarre place they pull their statistics from. I don’t think it’s a top 100 name in any actual place though.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 14/07/2020 13:47

Oh & if it were a name it seems mores masculine than feminine

AdultFishcakes · 14/07/2020 13:48

Exactly the reason I’m asking - you see if I hear “Hilary” I think “girl”... buy “Hayden” “boy”

Neither are spelled differently depending on whether they’re the male or the female use.

Hence the interest in straw polling Genesis - I’m just interested, hence the appeal for no cheating by looking online 😁

As previous posters have said, it’s not a name for boy or girl.

Shayisgreat · 14/07/2020 13:49

It's certainly unusual as a name so not typical for a girl or boy. It sounds more feminine to me but could go either way.
