Just for fun.....what do your children WISH you had called them?

All my children have fairly classic but slightly unusual names - all sound a little nineteenth century.

DD1 5yo wishes we had called her Bella-Rubee and names all characters in her games this

DD2 is fine with her name but prefers Madam

DS 2yo insists on being Bimboink

So go on..... which of your DC don't appreciate the perfect beautiful names you lovingly picked out?

I think my 4yo would prefer to be called Elsa, Belle, Ariel or Jasmine. Especially since lockdown increased the frequency of Disney films in our house!

I wanted Jesse for a boy. DH was having none of it. Mentioned it one day to DS 5 and he's loooooving it. 😂 We don't use it but he does like to say to DH that he loves that name and wishes he was called it. Makes me secretly happy 😊

When DS was about 6 he wanted to change his name to Trashboat

DS 2 (6) said he wished I called him Paul. He had a pretty classic Scottish name.
DS1 (11) says he doesn't know.

I don't really like name. No one actually really calls me the name I was given at birth, not even my parents. Everyone calls me the slightly shorter version, which is a bit better, but I did always wish I had been called Samantha, until I met one I really hated.

My husband wanted to call our first daughter Adelaide. I thought he was mad and laughed it off. It was such a mouthful, and quite far out for the time (35 years ago).

When daughter was in her teens the subject of names came up I laughed and said "you won't believe what your dad wanted to call you..." and told her. To my astonishment, my very down to earth daughter loved it and said she wished she was called Adelaide!

DS1 says his name is him so he just wants that.

As Meatloaf says, two outta three ain't bad.

DD5 seems to currently be identifying as a 70 year old man as she wants to be called Norman.

DD3 would also like to be called Norman, after her sister. Who then got upset that her sister was copying her.

6 yr old DS would have preferred either Skullcrusher or Steven 🤣

All mine are grown up now and tell me they like their names.

I used to affectionately call my youngest DS Whizzbob when he was little. His older brothers adapted it to Whingebob, or Whingey for short, and for some reason he still actually answers to it

Not my son, but a little boy I used to look after called Hugo said he wanted his name to be Boris instead.

DD2 will henceforth be known as Dave.

When DD1 was little, she insisted that she be called “Spider” 🤔

DD2 was disappointed - at approx age 5 - that she wasn’t named Katy.

We did go through a Thomas the tank engine phase and all had the name of engines. Dh was the fat controller

Dd has a lovely Gaelic name. She wishes she was called Maisie or Amelia.

I grew up with a really popular name and deliberately chose an unusual (but easy to spell / pronounce) name for dd. Ah well...

My DS 6 insists on being referred to as 'Dr Angel Owen O'Dell'

'Dr' and 'O'Dell' both come from watching Topsy and Tim. Angel is because he was miffed he wasn't an angel in last year's nativity. Owen is actually his name, so glad that's stuck!

Ds8 "s favourite name is Jeff.

He's suggested it to all of my pregnant friends and anyone buying a new pet.

Sadly they have chosen other names instead.

His second favourite name is Bob.

I just asked they said Amy (8 year old) and Ava (almost 6 year old).

DD wishes I had been brave enough to call her Saoirse. She loves her Irish name but thinks Saoirse is cooler. I think people struggle enough with the name she has 😂

Dd1 has never complained about her name, but sometimes wishes her middle was her first (Rose)

Dd2 tells me often that I should have called her Tiffany ?!
