My fiancé and I are expecting a little girl in just over two weeks and we just can't seem to find a middle name we're happy with.
The initials of his surname have made choosing a name a little awkward as they are O'B
So depending on names, can spell out rude or funny words.
E.g
N.O'B
S.O'B
F.O'B
G.O'B
M.O'B
And so on.

We've decided upon Harriet (we're aware it spells Hob but we fell in love with the name Smile)

We're really struggling to find a middle name any ideas would be very much appreciated. ♥️

Harriet is lovely. What about Harriet Clara (HCOB) or Harriet Reece (HROB)? x

I’ve always thought a middle name should have a sentimental value, like a family members name, but that’s just my opinion!

TeddyBeans · 07/07/2020 12:42

I'll be honest I never realised names with an apostrophe had two initials. I'd just initial her as H.O for Harriet 🤷‍♀️

Is there a family name you like for a middle name? Otherwise I think 1 syllable names like Rose and Jane work well with Harriet

We have thought about a sentimental middle name but unfortunately my partners mother has caused a lot of problems and feels she is not getting her own way in my pregnancy and that my family are treated better, which isn't the case. So we have decided to remove that friction and avoid any problems to not have a sentimental name to stop anyone feeling they've been left out. - it's a shame really as we both wanted to name her after my nan and I've always imagined my daughter having my Nan's name, but a neutral middle name would probably be better to minimise any problems.

Surely your surname is just O, if it’s something like O’Brian. So Sally O’Brian has the initials S.O.

OverTheRainbow88 · 07/07/2020 12:58

That’s a shame! Could you have your nans name and then another name from his side? Both my DCs have 2 middle names one from my side and one from my OH side!!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 07/07/2020 13:37

Harriet Amelia HAOB
Harriet Isabella. HIOB
Harriet Evelyn HEOB.

whatausername · 07/07/2020 14:23

Her initials are H.O. So any middle name will do, l like PP's suggestion of Clara. H.C.O.

Ricekrispie22 · 07/07/2020 16:00

Harriet Martha
Harriet Hazel
Harriet Jade
Harriet Darcy
Harriet Louise
Harriet Daisy

Wow, so even though you are not married, your DD is having your partner's surname, which is presumably also his mother's surname, but you daren't even give her the middle name of your own grandmother even though it's what BOTH of you want, because his mother will have a strop?!

My very serious advice to you is give that middle name. You have a long road ahead here, do what YOU want to do - the name lasts a lifetime. If she feels like this now, you might as well do what you want... not getting HER way in YOUR pregnancy? Oh good god. Seriously, if your partner is on side tell him to have a sharp word to let her know that she's one step away from you distancing yourselves permanently.

BuffaloCauliflower · 08/07/2020 17:41

Give her your Nan’s name if that’s what you want.

17caterpillars1mouse · 08/07/2020 17:47

I really love Harriet Madeleine
