Samuel or Thomas?

Hello. Me and DH are really torn between these two names for upcoming DS, we like them both equally. I (personally) maybe like Samuel more as I really like his Biblical story, he is a very wise leader which makes me picture a Samuel in real life as somewhat of an inspirational figure. However, we would still like some insight from people here. Which name do you prefer? Thanks Smile

Would you shorten?

DramaAlpaca · 28/06/2020 16:01

I much prefer Thomas.

Both lovely...as both like both.....Why not make the choice when baby arrives.. He might look more like one name than the other...

Theforest · 28/06/2020 16:02

You will have to accept that people will call them Sam, Tom, Tommy etc. So do you like those?

TeddyBeans · 28/06/2020 16:04

Thomas

Much prefer Thomas

Whatsyourflava · 28/06/2020 16:06

Love both. Voting for Thomas but both lovely classics and fairly underused

sahbear · 28/06/2020 16:07

Both great names. Keep one for Ds2? 😉

daisypond · 28/06/2020 16:53

Thomas by far.
Samuel is fine, but there’s no contest when up against Thomas..

Flappingflamingo · 28/06/2020 16:53

Samuel 😍😍😍😍 I'm biased though, mine has just turned 15

Both great but Samuel/Sam is one of my all -time top boys names so that gets my vote.

Samuel but I’m biased. Thomas is great too.

BananaSpanner · 28/06/2020 20:30

Samuel, by far.

SnowdropFox · 28/06/2020 20:34

Definitely Samuel. Not a fan of Thomas, Tom, Tommy etc. Reminds me of Thomas the tank engine.

Crazyprojectparent · 28/06/2020 21:20

Love them both (am biased!) But Samuel just squeaks the win for me, especially given his story. I like particularly that in the Bible there stories of him both as a child and as an adult.

Fishfingersandwichplease · 28/06/2020 21:43

Ooh mixed bag of results OP! Another vote for Samuel.

Tillygetsit · 28/06/2020 23:04

Samuel is my favourite of the two. I have a very serious 9yr old one in the family. He's ace.

GinWithASplashOfTonic · 28/06/2020 23:13

Definitely Thomas

MrsGilly1 · 29/06/2020 06:27

Why not have both?

Samuel Thomas sounds fab! X

fantasmasgoria1 · 29/06/2020 06:42

Samuel is better. Thomas reminds me of the engine!
