Too similar to Aria, which I think is prettier.

Lollypop4 · 28/06/2020 07:55

How do you pronounce it?
is it A-Ray-uh?
Please don't think I'm being rude.
I have 3 Dc, Ive had to and theyve had to pronounce their nes quite a bit to people, especially DC 2- Very welsh name

Middle name..., Grace or Rose?

KuruptFM · 28/06/2020 07:59

I know it as a common surname where I live. Sounds similar to araña which is spider in spanish.

DemolitionBarbie · 28/06/2020 08:03

There's an office phone brand called Avaya, it'd remind me of that.

Please don't try to find a name no one has had before, it just gives your child a lifetime of having to repeat their name over and over and be called the wrong thing by people.

OurBabyL2020 · 28/06/2020 08:05

It’s pronounced Uh-ray-ah

Aria is becoming a bit too common for my liking..

I don’t think it’s that unusual? I have a Spanish friend called Iraya so I would expect it to have a similar origin but the name itself I’ve not heard. As far as unusual names go I like it, doesn’t seem too OTT. We have a child with an unusual name but it makes sense for him as it’s part of his cultural heritage.

SallyWD · 28/06/2020 08:11

I'm not keen.

Liv5417 · 28/06/2020 08:25

I know a 7 year old Araya and think it's a pretty name 😊

endofthelinefinally · 28/06/2020 08:28

I think if it is part of your cultural heritage its fine, but I think it is a little bit strange if it isn't. Maybe I am old fashioned though.

BillywilliamV · 28/06/2020 08:36

Common names are generally common because they are pretty and practical. Your child will spend therest of her life having her name mispronounced and mispelt. I really cannot understand this obsession with " unusual and unique names".

Araya is at least pretty though, I have come across a poor little kid called Everley!

LotusClover · 28/06/2020 09:34

Hmm, Araya sounds a bit made up, as if you were trying to think up an alternative to the popular Aria. I prefer Amira, Amara, or even just Raya.

Anyway. Middle name suggestions:

Araya Violet
Araya Lily
Araya Eve
Araya Scarlett
Araya Isabel
Araya Faith
Araya Jasmine
Araya Zoe
Araya Lucy
Araya Skye

FizzyGreenWater · 28/06/2020 09:42

Just nothingy and sounds made up - there are so many girl‘s names like this - three syllables, begins with A or E, fairly bland sound. It sounds like you’ve tried to find a new one of those to be unique.

Elena
Aria
Amara
Aleesha
Elora
Anara
Amina
Elisha
Alana

They just go on and on. People will ask to spell it, and it’s got little personality because there are so many names almost the same. So no!!!

endofthelinefinally · 28/06/2020 09:47

It is a very popular South East Asian name.

GarlicMcAtackney · 28/06/2020 10:19

Araya Sunshine 😁

Orphlids · 28/06/2020 10:29

Totally agree with @FizzyGreenWater, I’m afraid. It is instantly forgettable. It’s difficult to hate it because it’s sound is inoffensive enough, but it just gets lost among the throng of similar names.

MikeUniformMike · 28/06/2020 10:30

Makes me thing of array. Raya is nicer.

Mischance · 28/06/2020 10:33

Forget it.

DoTheMaccaroni · 28/06/2020 13:59

@GarlicMcAtackney my daughters middle name is Soraya and I wanted to call her Soraya Sunshine 😍 it got vetoed but I use it anyway as a lengthened nickname!

user1493494961 · 28/06/2020 17:18

Sounds made up, I agree with a pp, it's very bland.

squishee · 28/06/2020 23:03

It's very close to Arya from Game of Thrones. No-one knows how to promounce that really either. Pretty though it is...

3isthemagicnumber3 · 29/06/2020 18:29

Auraya is much prettier and less harsh....

FizzyGreenWater · 29/06/2020 19:07

Auraya! Another one for the List of The Bland posted above Grin

WHY? They all sound the same!

A or E to start
sound in the middle
a at the end.

I could make loads up.

Aurola
Enila
Alona
Aumana
Arlina
Elima
Alosha
Esora

Meaningless.

MikeUniformMike · 29/06/2020 19:19

Auraya looks made up and bland.

I agree with FizzyGreenWater on this
"A or E to start
sound in the middle
a at the end."

I particularly dislike the -iana names, so how about Aurayana?
Aurayella or Aurayatina?

Iluv · 29/06/2020 19:38

Love it, My daughter's name is Saraya

FizzyGreenWater · 29/06/2020 19:45

Sorry 3isthemagicnumber sounds like I'm getting at you there, not meant to!

I just find those names so SUPER dull.

The A-'blah'-na names I call them.
