Lyla, Lorna or Lara?

I'm stuck having a massive dither between the girl names Lyla, Lorna and Lara. I know that I definitely want a name beginning with L, and this is my shortlist. My pros and cons for each name are as follows:

Lyla - I love the fact that it's so pretty and feminine, and easy to pronounce. I love the spelling. Slightly worried, however, that it's becoming too popular and perhaps sounds too 'little girly' and lacks punch.

Lorna - Really unusual these days, which is great. I love that it sounds strong and assertive. On the cons side, concerned that it sounds a little harsh, not pretty enough and is dated?

Lara - Once again, love how strong this name sounds. Short and pretty. Relatively rare. For the cons, I don't like the fact that it rhymes with so many other names - Cara, Zara, Sara (I don't like any of these names and have bad associations).

Which name gets your vote? I'd really appreciate any thoughts or opinions. I'm open to other name suggestions, although I've spent a very long time getting down to this list.

Lila - I would pronounce Lee-la. For whatever reason, I don't like the sound of the name.

Lana - really do like this name, although comes with a strong personal association to Lana Del Rey. Not a bad thing necessarily.

Lorna - I do keep dithering! @Whatsyourflava I understand where you're coming from.

How do you get Lorna to sound like mourner? It's nothing like!

We have Lila. Lara or Lana is lovely too though.

I like Lorna it's quite timeless.

All good choices, but I'd choose Lorna I think.

I like Lara best. Like Lana but put off by the unfortunate ‘backwards’ spelling thing. Don’t like Lyla at all. Can’t imagine a baby Lorna.

Love Lara and also Lana. Like them all although I would have pronounced Lila as in the second part of Dehlila.

I love Lorna. Although I like it with the r sounded properly. It would annoy me if I lived somewhere where r sounds like w.

Lara out of the 3, although it makes me think if tomb raider.
Love Lyra though, think its a lovely name.

I think Lara is my favourite of your three. It's not too popular for baby, but well known; pretty but still strong. My vote is Lara, then Lyla, then Lorna.

Also do like Lana and Layla.

Of your list I like Lara best.

But I prefer Laurel, Lois and Lana!

Lyra!

DD’s best friend is called Lorna. She’s 8. I love that it’s clearly a girl’s name, but not cutesy. It’s a good strong, traditional name.

I think Lorna is really dated. I know one in her 60’s, one in her 40’s and one in her 20’s who I think could have pulled off any name at all, apart from Lorna. I just don’t like it at all.

Leona not Leon!

Lorna has been my favourite for a while, the others are pretty but don't have the same impact for me.

Lorna for me is the image of a young woman, standing on the rocks on a shore, staring out to sea knowing she is part of the world and can conquer all before her.

Love Lara out of all the l names.
