Bertie for short maybe. Joy as a middle family name.

Joy is beautiful.

I'm not keen on Liberty, it's hard and clunky to my ears. I do like Libby though. Definitely not Bertie, it's bad enough on a boy.

Sorry, as you can see I'm not keen.

Flowerpowersy · 23/06/2020 22:21

I'm not keen on Liberty. But Joy is lovely.

PersonaNonGarter · 23/06/2020 22:21

I knew a lovely Liberty, so I always think it is a great name. Not keen on Libby as a short name tho. Bertie is much better.

Joy is fabulous. I love Jocelyn shortened to Joy too.

CRISPSWARS · 23/06/2020 22:29

Don't like Liberty. Kids will take the piss and call her the Statue of Liberty. Joy seems very outdated, I can't imagine anyone under 60 called Joy.

As for Bertie, it just sounds like a man's name. And a very outdated man's name.

Victoria6386 · 23/06/2020 22:31

Liberty sounds extremely comman, and most people would probably shorten her name to Libby. But I quite like Joy.

ArchbishopOfBanterbury · 23/06/2020 22:32

I know a lovely Liberty, nn Libby. Very pretty name!

openyourporkpies · 23/06/2020 22:45

I have a Liberty nn Libby - MNers seems to trash it all the time but everyone has always complimented her and we still love it.

chillandrelax · 23/06/2020 22:48

Love the name Liberty. 😍

iamrubyfinch · 23/06/2020 22:52

It's a beautiful name. If you love it, go for it ♥️

QuimReaper · 23/06/2020 22:55

Liberty Joy is a bit overkill, and Bertie's awful.

Liberty's great though!

diege · 23/06/2020 23:04

I have a Liberty too! Over the years it's been shortened to Libby, but love both.

WinWinnieTheWay · 23/06/2020 23:31

Liberty makes me think of corsets, sanitary protection, and Americans.

HunkyPunk · 23/06/2020 23:39

Love the name Liberty and nn Libby. Smile

SnowdropFox · 24/06/2020 09:15

I love them both but it feels a bit much to have them together.

I like the nn Bertie though, I wouldn't have thought of it! I do like masculine names on girls though (like Charlie)

LotusClover · 24/06/2020 09:36

Liberty is lovely and really underused these days. Hate the nickname Bertie though - I would use Libby instead.

WhatWouldYouDoWhatWouldJesusDo · 24/06/2020 09:41

I know a liberty Grace.

NN Libby / Lib........she's late teens now and owns her name well.

Hooleywhipper · 24/06/2020 09:45

My Liberty is 21 tomorrow and has always loved her name. Many compliments over the years. It’s a yes from me OP 😊.
Joy is beautiful too.

motherofawhirlwind · 24/06/2020 09:57

Love it!

My OH wanted to call DD Libby but we didn't like Elizabeth and wanted a longer name to shorten. Wish we'd thought of Liberty.....

Whatsyourflava · 24/06/2020 10:44

Liberty is one of my very favourite names. I've loved it for years. I can't believe the nickname of Bertie has never occurred to me! Love it even more now!!

HelmutShmacker · 24/06/2020 10:46

I like it :)

GinWithRosie · 24/06/2020 11:02

Liberty is lovely...don't like Joy though, sorry.

AnneTwackie · 24/06/2020 13:47

I don't like Liberty at all. It sounds like a brand of tampons. Sorry.

finallychangedmyusername · 24/06/2020 18:27

I don't like Liberty or Bertie sorry.

Elizabeth Joy, nn Libby - great
Olivia Joy, nn Libby - great
Libby Joy - ok

Bertyb7 · 24/06/2020 21:58
