WDYT of this name? I'm seriously falling for it and been considering it for the past few days. It's mostly used in Scandinavia from what I gather and I actually did meet a Swedish girl named Axelina about 10 years ago maybe.

I'm just not sure what kind of vibes it would give to other people? I love the name Alexandra but it does feel a bit meh sometimes and I think Axelina has a very similar vibe yet slightly different so I'm loving it but still having mini second thoughts.

I like Axelle. Axelina is okay to me but I prefer Axelle. The baby names board is notoriously rude. People even mock the names of existing children. I find it such poor taste.

Lightofthephoenix · 21/06/2020 22:06

Axelina.....I actually like it

campion · 21/06/2020 22:09

You see, someone else on here has already read it as Alexina. That's what'll happen as Alex is common here, Axel (ina) isn't.

Go with some sort of Alex type name -maybe not Alexa though!

hotstepper4 · 21/06/2020 22:11

I like it! Like Axelle too.

You need to consider that people will shorten it though, to Axe likely? And she'll be constantly correcting people, no not Max, Axe!

SoftSheen · 21/06/2020 22:14

Axelina makes me think of something relating to a mechanics workshop.

How about Adelina?

AragornsManlyStubble · 21/06/2020 22:16

I personally don’t like it, but I don’t see anything necessarily wrong with it as such. Axelle is prettier

Userzzz · 21/06/2020 22:16

No...

Tillygetsit · 21/06/2020 22:16

What's with all the 'you must hate your child' comments lately?
What an unoriginal and stupid thing to say. Not my taste, OP but that doesn't mean I assume you hate your child Hmm

MrsMcCarthysfamousScones · 21/06/2020 22:16

Instantly hated it.

But I’ve been repeating it over, whilst reading the thread, and it’s really growing on me.

I always wonder why people share names before they have given it to a child though because there is always a danger that someone will ruin the name for you. Much harder for people to criticise once you have named your baby.

Wilberforce1 · 21/06/2020 22:17

Errrrmmmm 🤣🤣

123Dancewithme · 21/06/2020 22:17

Axelle is better.

DamnYankee · 21/06/2020 22:17

Sorry...I think of Axel Rose and Angelina Ballerina from the children's books. You need to consider possible nicknames as well. "Axe" sounds odd and "Axey" even odder...
Maybe another name?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 21/06/2020 22:19

I actually like the sound of it, but If you've no connection to Sweden th en I think it would be quite hard to carry off. If that doesn't conc ern you id say go with it

RickOShay · 21/06/2020 22:21

Alexandra is beautiful
What about Evalina?

NeedToKnow101 · 21/06/2020 22:22

It's a no from me.

LostInTheColonies · 21/06/2020 22:23

What about Alexandrina? Bit more interesting than Alexandra Smile

AbacabMR · 21/06/2020 22:23

I think it’s a really ugly name. I’d feel sorry for the child tbh.

gameboyy · 21/06/2020 22:23

I actually had never heard Axelle which some of the PP have suggested. I kept saying it out loud and for some reason it sounds like Excel to me. It might be my accent but it's just all I can hear when I say it 😅

Other than that, it's still a good option but I don't think it could work with the way I'm pronouncing it, unless I'm doing it wrong?

WitchyMoo · 21/06/2020 22:26

I thought Guns n Roses too
Nope

thanksamillion · 21/06/2020 22:28

My DD is Adelina which is quite common in Romania. Would that work? Not keen on Axelina though.

gameboyy · 21/06/2020 22:28

Alexandrina. Sounds a little bit of a mouthful but I do like Alexandria even if it's just one less letter.

Evalina. I quite like this one but there's this artist/singer who is really popular where I'm based who is named Evaluna and it just slightly puts me off as I think they're too similar

Immigrantsong · 21/06/2020 22:31

No. How about:

Melina
Evelina
Paulina
Serafina
Lina

gameboyy · 21/06/2020 22:32

I'm liking Adelina though. Hadn't thought of that one but it's starting to grow on me. Thanks for that suggestion, gonna add it to the list and see if it works with our middle name options

HotSince82 · 21/06/2020 22:37

Audrina?

GlamGiraffe · 21/06/2020 22:41

Really dont like it.
It reminds me of guns and roses, something mechanical (like car axle) and something from an asterix cartoon all rolled into one.
It just a big no, sorry.
