Baby initials...

I need help on baby initials!! We're due a baby girl soon and the name I love starts with a V but her surname starts with a D... I didn't even think anything of it till I googled VD to make sure nothing was linked and there it was!!Sad
I'm now so undecided on her name! She would have a middle name so full initials would be VHJD so that breaks it up and I don't think it's a massively used term anymore so would only potentially be picked up on off chance by the older generation but I wouldn't want it to cause issues for her in later life... am I just over thinking considering they wouldn't be her full initials or should I start rethinking?? Honest opinions please!

I think you are fine, especially as you are using middle names 😊

I personally wouldn't use VD as initials, sorry. It's an old fashioned term here, but more common in America - and therefore you hear it in TV and films all the time.

I wouldn’t have VD , sorry.

That's exactly why my parents swiftly changed my name from Victoria. I was quite relieved about it as a teenager.

I don’t think a middle name breaks it up enough to have the initials VD. Your actual initials are something that you use quite a bit and it would look weird if you put four initials instead of two.

Nobody says 'VD' these days they say STD...

AuntieStella · 21/06/2020 19:50

VD is still the common US usage, so will still be recognised here from the telly, plus by those over about 50 years old who wouid have had that as the taught term during their schooldays. I think it is widely known.

I'd exercise caution on this one.
