Cherry - love or loathe?

I mentioned this name to my husband a couple of months ago when I was admiring all the cherry blossom on the trees. I think I've gone off it but he's still really keen. Sibling name is quite unusual so it's good in that sense but I'm really unsure whether or not I like it. What do others think?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I knew a girl called Sherry. Strangely, I never thought of the drink, just as her name. I've heard of Cherry Healey, but not keen on the name. Seems too sickly sweet in my mind.

MikeUniformMike · 21/06/2020 17:17

It's cute but a bit nicknamey.
Plum might be an alternative.

MikeUniformMike · 21/06/2020 17:18

Or Sherrin

Brokenchair1 · 21/06/2020 17:19

She may get a lot of jokes about popping someone's cherry when she's older. Just something to bear in mind.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 21/06/2020 17:20

It's pretty, but would work better as a middle name or cute nickname to my mind.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 21/06/2020 17:20

I love it. It's edgy and refreshing.

SpookyNoise · 21/06/2020 17:21

No.

FrankieKnuckles · 21/06/2020 17:23

Love 🍒

DramaAlpaca · 21/06/2020 17:24

No, it's awful.

DwayneBenzie · 21/06/2020 17:26

Stripper name

bubbleup · 21/06/2020 17:26

Please don't call her Plum 😂

SionnachRua · 21/06/2020 17:27

Stripper name (especially with the 'pop your cherry' connotations).

villainousbroodmare · 21/06/2020 17:28

Nice word, lovely fruit, woeful name.

strawberry2017 · 21/06/2020 17:28

Maybe as a nickname but not as her only option

SquirtleSquad · 21/06/2020 17:32

Loathe!!

AdelaideK · 21/06/2020 17:32

It's terrible. Pop your cherry springs to mind. It's definitely not edgy, more twee and sickly sweet.

GreyishDays · 21/06/2020 17:33

Cute for a toddler but I can’t imagine an adult with a responsible job with it.

BlueJava · 21/06/2020 17:37

She'll forever be given things with cherries on... I know a Cherry. Personally I wouldn't name a child that. If you are going for the blossom (not the fruit) what about Sakura?

TippledPink · 21/06/2020 17:37

I do like it, and cherries are lovely! There is a presenter called Cherry Healey, that's the only time I have heard it as a name.

cptartapp · 21/06/2020 17:44

I know one.
Loathe it.

Whatsyourflava · 21/06/2020 17:46

The girl called Mary at my school always got called Virgin Mary (silly I know!) But she used to get so embarrassed especially when she got first boyfriend.
So I definitely think Cherry is a risk - can imagine talk of "popping Cherry" a lot

riotlady · 21/06/2020 18:06

Loathe, sorry

Needcoffeecoffeecoffee · 21/06/2020 18:08

What about blossom?
Ot is that too 90s mayim balik?
I quite like cherry though

HelmutShmacker · 21/06/2020 18:09

I know someone called Cherry, I quite like it!

Scottishflower · 21/06/2020 18:11

I absolutely love it!!! Quirky but not made up and has a slight vintage feel. X
