Isabella

What are your opinions on the name Isabella?
I'm looking for a name that is strong but still feminine and pretty.

Just to add, popularity is not an issue for us. We prefer more popular names.

Would Isabella go nicely with older brothers name Noah?
I didn't really want a name that could be shortened, however I adore the names Bella and Ella but neither go with surname (Football) if used as standalone names.
Would this still be an issue if I used Isabella? Isabella Football.

Look forward to reading your comments.

Thank you all. X

I don’t think it works. It’s too much with your surname, the repetition of the bell/ball sound. Also, it’s a completely different style of name to Noah.

Immigrantsong · 21/06/2020 15:51

Isabella is beautiful. Sibling names don't have to match. Go for it.

daisypond · 21/06/2020 15:51

Also, meant to add, it makes a bit of a joke -
Is a bell a ball?

CremeEggThief · 21/06/2020 15:53

I think it goes well with both Noah and your surname. It's a beautiful name; so what if some people think it's too popular?

Sertchgi123 · 21/06/2020 15:54

It's a really beautiful name, go for it.

VintageGirl89 · 21/06/2020 15:55

@daisypond its not exactly Football, need to change one letter to another vowel (NOT A, E, I or O). I just use that as closest as dont want to be outed.

@Notajogger I purposefully changed my surname as not to out myself. So please remove post with my full surname for everyone to see!

Is a belle of the ball. I love Isabella but I wouldn't it with Ball, sorry.

daisypond · 21/06/2020 16:45

Isabella is a form of Elizabeth- and that does go with Noah. It also goes fine alongside your surname. It might be hard to avoid it being shortened, though. But you could pick one of the shortened forms for the full name -Eliza?

VintageGirl89 · 21/06/2020 17:58

@daisypond Unfortunately I don't like Elizabeth and can't use Eliza as already used in the family.

Isabella ⚽️ sounds great. Perfect with Noah

Ellmau · 21/06/2020 18:12

Isabella is lovely. But it does clash a bit with your surname.

What about:

Miranda
Rosalind
Alexandra
Eloise
Clarissa

Immigrantsong · 21/06/2020 18:41

Anabella
Daphne
Marina
Melina

Sorry, it IS a lovely name, but common as muck round me at the moment! I'm in the midlands, and can easily think of 4 Isabella's under the age of 3, and I don't know THAT many kids.

VintageGirl89 · 21/06/2020 20:07

@zingally I'm just south of the Midlands and since having my son I've only known of one Isabella. I guess it can vary massively though.

Isabella is one of my favourite names. You clearly love so you should use it. The name doesn't need to be shortened, if you don't want it too. Personally, I don't care how popular it is, it's a beautiful, elegant, classic name.

User1775836552 · 21/06/2020 21:07

I love Isabella. It’s very popular but a beautiful name

nubeejinnings · 21/06/2020 21:12

It makes me think of isabella necessary on a bike..something from playground days. Also with your last name I bull might sound like eye ball. So I'd avoid but its all about personal choice and not the views of strangers really.

123Dancewithme · 21/06/2020 22:19

I don’t think it sounds good with your surname.

happymummy12345 · 22/06/2020 09:46

A friend of ours called her daughter Isabella (always Bella for short). And another friend used Isabella for her daughters middle name, I really like it.
