What kind of person is she? Do you like it?

I think it's pretty. I know a 2 year old Polly, She is very bubbly and cheerful

Whatsyourflava · 21/06/2020 15:36

Great name- so underused, she could be any personality

Imissmoominmama · 21/06/2020 15:39

My cousin is a Polly. She’s elegant with an arty, earth mother type vibe, and very intelligent. It’s a lovely name.

Milicentbystander72 · 21/06/2020 15:44

I like it. I considered it for dd.

keepingbees · 21/06/2020 15:44

My DD went to nursery with a Polly-Anna known as just Polly. She was quiet and very sweet.

daisypond · 21/06/2020 15:49

It’s grown on me a lot recently. I used to think it was a bit nicknamey.
I know an 11-year-old Polly.

Wagsandclaws · 21/06/2020 15:55

I went to school and was friends with Polly Vernon ( Journo ) and she's the only one I've been known.

It's a lovely name I think and as someone upthread said, really underused.

User8989 · 21/06/2020 15:57

I dislike it. I imagine a white 50 something woman. Unambitious, airhead.

SherlocksDeerstalker · 21/06/2020 16:13

It’s lovely. I only know one and she is very delicate, well spoken, well educated and artsy. It’s a lovely name.

MikeUniformMike · 21/06/2020 16:14

Polly is lovely.

Pollyanna is awful. Polly-Anna is awful +double barrelled.

Anna is great just not with Polly.

17caterpillars1mouse · 21/06/2020 16:24

I think she'd be quite a confident and sociable young girl, but also a little bit bookish. She's have a love of bright colours and animals, an interesting dress sense and play with dolls and dinosaurs.

As an adult she'd be in a caring profession, she'd crochet and make her own clothes or jewellery, like to travel and be a good cook. General sunny disposition. A very liked women

Monstermissy36 · 21/06/2020 16:31

Love it! I lived next door to a polly as a kid, very clever musical family!

Camparisafari · 21/06/2020 16:38

It's a gorgeous name and agree very underused. My sisters name and also a good friends name. Both very kind and fun people. Just beware that it will get mistaken for Holly a lot.

violetscone · 21/06/2020 17:22

Polly is a great name!

DramaAlpaca · 21/06/2020 17:23

I used to think it was a bit twee, but it's grown on me and now I love it.

richele4 · 21/06/2020 17:24

nope reminds me of a parrot

Orphlids · 21/06/2020 17:45

I like the way you’ve posed the question, OP: what kind of person is she? I think Polly is kind, intelligent, tolerant, educated, high-achieving, independent, organised, adventurous, politically left-leaning.

CatteStreet · 21/06/2020 17:47

Good name.

My strongest association with Polly is Clever Polly (of Clever Polly and the Stupid Wolf fame). Confident, resourceful, brave and unflappable.

LilacSloth · 21/06/2020 17:50

Put the kettle on.

Never particularly liked the name, then met a Polly at work who thought she was above everyone else.

Siablue · 21/06/2020 17:55

I did like it until I watched my millionth episode of MR Tumble and now all I think of is Aunt Polly.

sibbys · 21/06/2020 18:52

Love it. Would possibly use it if DD1 wasn't Molly.

Theforest · 21/06/2020 18:53

I LOVE Polly. My favourite girls name

GodDamnYouCarole · 21/06/2020 19:13

@lilacsloth I wonder if we know the same Polly?! The adult one I know thinks she's a little bit better than everyone else too!

zingally · 21/06/2020 19:52

I don't imagine much about the child Polly. But I imagine her parents as the stereotypical white middle-class suburbanites, living in a new build with their labradoodle and their two other kids, Amelia and Tobias. And while they're perfectly pleasant, they're actually as dull as ditch water.

123Dancewithme · 21/06/2020 23:33

I also know one who thinks she’s above everyone else!
