Girl names not ending in “y” “a” or “Er” to go with

Surname Coo per (space was deliberate)

Names like Harper and Piper definitely out and I even find Ava and Isla don’t quite go, it seems like I trip over my tongue when forename/surname are said together.

As a rule I don’t like “y” or “ee” sounding names with the exception of Lucy, Phoebe and Ruby. Those have all been vetoed for various reasons, with the exception of Ruby; however middle name will be Rose to honor both grandmothers. Is Ruby Rose a bit too much? It is isn’t it?

Was thinking potentially names ending in M or N ... or another consonant.

Personally not keen on “ette” names or “Elle”

Discounted so far:

Tatum
Payton (apparently too close to Satan)
Morgan
Teagan
Any ette endings

What a pain I am... please do your worst Grin

Evelyn and Elowen both lovely.
Ruby is ok but wouldn't pair with Rose.

Have you considered Abigail?

Apologies if already discussed - have read first and last pages.
If you liked the sound of Rosalind but are committed to Rose as a middle name - could you change plans and go with Rosalind nn Rose for the first name?

Hopefully not outing myself here, but my late aunt was a Ruby Coo per. She had a great laugh, was loyal beyond words and full of fun and adventure. I always thought it was a great name, and I actually do really like Ruby Rose too ❤️

It's hard trying to put names with rose without it sounding like a description of the rose. I dont hate Autumn Rose Cooper or Avalon Rose Cooper though.

How do you pronounce elowen?

Its too unusual imo so you might get a lot of requests to explain it

I love the name Eleanor myself.

eggandonion · 18/06/2020 12:54

Elowen looks pretty, but I don't know ow to say it! Hazel is lovely...
Could you try names with Rose first, then use the middle name? My ds has 3 forenames but is known by the second one of them. It was a compromise to keep inlaws happy with a family name.

@Changedname81
We have the same surname, kind is by marriage, and although I didn’t change my name when we got married, I did when I had my first child.

Surely I couldn’t have Alice
This is my first name. The rock star references dried up very quickly, and not that many people are aware of him anymore. It’s not really a problem.

I have nieces and other female relations on DH’s side with “a” “er” ending names that you have dismissed, Isla and Eleanor. J Bi other sound fine! The “a” of Isla is softer than the ending of Cooper. The “or” of Eleanor is longer than the ending of Cooper.

I get the Alice thing, but having lives it fort more than 10 years, I really wouldn’t worry about it. If anything, I use it to my advantage and say “like the rock star” when I have to confirm my name. Fewer and fewer people know what I mean. Other than Alice, I think you are overthinking a bit. All bBy names sounds wrong and strange in my I’m the baby is born, but once the baby is here and has had their name fir a few weeks it’s just “then!”.

Good luck
