Girl names not ending in “y” “a” or “Er” to go with

Surname Coo per (space was deliberate)

Names like Harper and Piper definitely out and I even find Ava and Isla don’t quite go, it seems like I trip over my tongue when forename/surname are said together.

As a rule I don’t like “y” or “ee” sounding names with the exception of Lucy, Phoebe and Ruby. Those have all been vetoed for various reasons, with the exception of Ruby; however middle name will be Rose to honor both grandmothers. Is Ruby Rose a bit too much? It is isn’t it?

Was thinking potentially names ending in M or N ... or another consonant.

Personally not keen on “ette” names or “Elle”

Discounted so far:

Tatum
Payton (apparently too close to Satan)
Morgan
Teagan
Any ette endings

What a pain I am... please do your worst Grin

Tegan in Welsh just means "toy" - it's not a name. I've never heard Teagan as an Irish girl's name either, sounds more American to me. (On the model of Reagan?)

Ruby Rose is a famous person, so unless you love them, I wouldn't go with that.

Adelaide is lovely, or how about Adeline?

ILoveStickers · 16/06/2020 18:44

Ah, it's an anglicised version of an Irish surname apparently. Fair enough - not really a girl's name to me.

CoconutBreath · 16/06/2020 18:49

I love the name Olive

CaffiSaliMali · 16/06/2020 18:51

Tegan is the Welsh word for toy and it's not used as a Welsh girls name.

Sometimes Teagan is spelt Tegan, but it's not Welsh.

Olive Rose Cooper is super cute but the initials aren’t great...

Thanks for all your help, we’ve narrowed it down to five:

Evelyn Rose Coop er ( I LOVE this)
Lucienne Rose Coop er
Ruby Rose Coop er
Elowen Rose Coop er
Cadence Rose Coop er

He is leaning toward Elowen, he thinks it sounds a bit LOTR which has him sold as he is a LOTR fanboy. (I did tell him it was Cornish meaning elm tree) Grin

I’m happy with either I just love the meaning of Evelyn (longed for child).

Many thanks once again

Kathleen (can shorten to Kat)

My actual name is Ruby, not just an mn name.

I love my name and recommend it buy I do think it doesn't work with the middle name Rose. Like Blue Ivy, it sounds like a complete phrase and I wonder if people will think you've named her after the model/actress?

HavelockVetinari · 16/06/2020 20:42

Siobhan
Anne
Caroline
Roisin
Sinead

HavelockVetinari · 16/06/2020 20:45

On reading your list - Evelyn for sure! It's a beautiful name. I also love Lucienne, but steer clear of Ruby if you're worried about it being 'common'.

HelmutShmacker · 16/06/2020 20:48

OP did you know Ruby Rose is a famous actor/ model? Not sure if that would put you off the name

Changedname81 · 16/06/2020 20:54

I do know about Ruby Rose. It’s not a connotation which puts me off, but in honesty I think it’s between Evelyn or Elowen Grin

CaffiSaliMali · 16/06/2020 21:06

I really like both Evelyn and Elowen, slight preference for the latter.

How are you pronouncing Evelyn? Ev-lin, Ev-uh-lin or Eeev-lin?

Changedname81 · 16/06/2020 21:13

Two syllables me Ev Lin
Three syllables him Ev uh Lin Hmm although it’s more like 2.5 as his middle syllable is very slight
