Middle name for Sullivan?

We are 100% set on Sullivan for the first name if we are having a boy, but can't agree on a middle name. We definitely want one, OH is just so awkward to pick names with as he finds faults with EVERYTHING.

The ones I like which he's knocked back are:
Sullivan James
Sullivan Arthur
Sullivan Charlie
Sullivan George
Sullivan Beau

The only suggestion he's made is Frank but even he said he doesn't love it, and I really don't like it.

Any suggestions?

I think a one syllable middle name works particularly well with Sullivan (which is fabulous by the way!)

It's a shame Sullivan James has been vetoed. It is a really smart name!

To me something like 'Sullivan James' sounds too much like a surname, first name combination, as on a list at school or something. If you're going to choose a name that is usually a surname for a first name I think you need an unusual and exciting middle name to back it up.

Not Sullivan Bay, it sounds like a place.

Sullivan is an absolutely wonderful name - I am not good at names and cannot think of a suitable middle name, I am afraid, unless you were to be really wild and choose something like 'Ballou'.

Sullivan Ballou was a real person - an officer in the Union army during the American Civil War, famed for the letter he wrote to his wife on the eve of the first battle of Bull Run. However, the connotations are probably negative since he did not survive the battle although, to me, the name has a wonderful ring to it.

Sorry, I am not much help, but felt compelled to comment as I love Sullivan as a first name and endorse your choice!

For our DC we chose a completely random first name we loved and then a couple of names from extended family as their middle names. Those middle names have given a lot of pleasure to family members, even tho DC don’t really use them day to day. Are there any family names you could throw into the mix?

Sullivan Jack has a lovely pirate feel about it

Yay, you finally decided on Sullivan! My 6 year old Sullivan's middle names are John and Timothy after FIL and my dad.

I tend to use middle names to honor family members. He was almost going to have Scott as a middle name for DH's brother but I draw the line at 2 middle names!

Are there not any names you had on your shortlist that you could make middle names?
