Thoughts on Callie or Aggie?

They’re not our definitive top two so it’s not one or the other, but I wondered what people thought of both of them? Callie as it is and Agatha shortened to Aggie.

We already have a DD called Nell.

Aggie is horrid.
It’s a very common older woman’s name up here in Scotland and (rightly or not) I associate it with a certain type of woman (a relative of mine included).
I’m sorry, I know it’s your choice,
Callie I like.

NuffSaidSam · 12/06/2020 17:16

Aggie is dreadful. Widely used abbreviation/term for aggressive/violent/angry.

Callie is ok.

Love Nell though.

HelmutShmacker · 12/06/2020 17:17

I absaloutley adore Agatha/Aggie

Not keen on Callie

Bmidreams · 12/06/2020 17:17

I really wanted an Agnes, but couldn't deal with Aggie.

Diverseduvet · 12/06/2020 17:20

Aggie? Awful.

NewNewt · 12/06/2020 17:21

I love Callie (and have a Calvin who we call Cally!)

Aggie is quite normal up here in Scotland - but I prefer Callie. Would it be short for anything?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 12/06/2020 17:22

Callie is okay. However I think Cassie would be a nicer alternative with Nell.
I'm not a fan of Aggie, sorry.

Redbrownbrick · 12/06/2020 17:23

I like both! Also like Agnes..

TheThingWithFeathers · 12/06/2020 17:24

Aggie is terrible, sorry. Callie is OK but I see it as more of a nickname/shortening e.g. for Caroline.

PintOfGin · 12/06/2020 17:28

Love Callie hate Aggie personally

flamingochill · 12/06/2020 17:29

I think I might have heard Aggie being used as slang for aggressive or aggro?

Callie is better than Agatha but not as great as Nell imo

Crystaltree · 12/06/2020 17:35

Aggie is an ugly, witchy name.
Callie is not bad but sounds a bit like a dog's name.

Then again I don't like Nell either!

blindmansbluff · 12/06/2020 17:37

I don't think either of those names flow well with Nell.

NameChange09876 · 12/06/2020 17:41

Callie is nice but feels like it should be short for something.

Personally strongly Aggie.

NameChange09876 · 12/06/2020 17:42

*strongly dislike Aggie

Pemba · 12/06/2020 17:50

What namechange just said. Aggie is so harsh, and a bit of a joke name.

Crystaltree · 12/06/2020 17:55

What about Caroline. Then you can sing Sweet Caroline to her.

Crystaltree · 12/06/2020 17:57

.. "And when I hurt
Hurting runs off my shoulder
How can I hurt when holding you?"

Sorry I am partial. I was born the year it was in the charts and my middle name is Caroline.

Greenlasagne · 12/06/2020 17:57

See I really like Aggie, but had a strong suspicion others might feel differently Grin I was right!

Marlena1 · 12/06/2020 17:59

Love Callie (regret not calling DD1 this a bit).

Sojo88 · 12/06/2020 18:01

I much prefer Callie

halcyondays · 12/06/2020 18:02

Definitely Callie
Aggie is awful

mrs87 · 12/06/2020 18:35

Prefer Agnes to Agatha as full name for Aggie! But I like both Callie and Aggie. Does Nell get called Nellie? As Callie and Nellie might be quite similar if so.

Thenextplateau · 12/06/2020 18:40

Agatha is OK but I really don't like it shortened to Aggie. It sounds very much like a grumpy old women. Callie is lovely though.

AgnesNaismith · 12/06/2020 18:40

Agnes or Calinda

Never Aggie
