We've got a way to go until we have to decide on one, baby may be a girl in which case we have lots of options! But we cannot find one boys name we like.

When pregnant with ds1, We decided on his name at 9 weeks and loved it. We couldn't think of any girls names then and now we have lots of girls names but no boys names.

Below are our girls names to give you an idea of what we like (we don't need anymore girls names, I love them all so much we will struggle to choose!). Our boys list has a lot of ifs and buts so hoping someone can suggest something we havent thought of.

Girls
Edith nn edie
Florence
Lucy
Nancy

Boys
Henry (however is a family name and the name of a close friend)
Alastair (but a family name and may cause issue on the other side of the family/the original Alastair getting big headed)
Edward (but hate Teddy)
Isaac (but unsure as people I don't like have named their children this. Loved it with ds1 but dh didn't)
Alexander (but don't like Alex and we have a West Country accent so xander is quite a harsh sound)
James (a bit plain and also the name of close family friend. Quite like nn Jim)

No names beginning with R as that is ds1 first initial. Ds1 also has what could be deemed as a posh name so are wary of going too 'posh' as we live in a council flat and are not posh by any stretch!!

Don't like
Freddy
Theodore
Reggie
Jaxon

Edward much more likely to be called Ed, if you don’t start calling him Teddy.

Henry is nice. Why does being a family/friend's name count as a negative? Wouldn't they be flattered if you use the name?
I like Alistair but it sounds like it might have some negative points for you.
Edward could be Ed or Eddie; Teddy isn't inevitable.
Isaac is a good classic name. Who cares if people you don't like chose it? A DS of yours would be a completely different person in a different family.
James/Jim is quite nice also (not Jimmy though).

Jonathan
Aaron
Peter
Thomas
Benedict
Samson
Dylan
Jacob
Julian
Luke
William
Marius
Daniel
Tristan

Thank you all for your suggestions. It's so hard to name a child!! Is it bad to sort of hope for a girl because we've got girls name ideas?!! I'm sure if we found out it was a boy we would find a name we love.
Quite like Miles, Oscar, albie. I also like Benjamin with the nn Jim. Thank you for all your suggestions!

It's probably a girl!

Our fave for #2 was Otis.

I also like Jethro, Orson and Emmett.

Butterbeeeen · 12/06/2020 10:20

You have my dd name on your list and also my ds middle name so we clearly have similar taste. What about Seth?

Caramel78 · 12/06/2020 10:28

Evan
Hector
Samuel
Jacob
Kieran
Cillian
Dexter

Re nicknames, imo Alexander would almost definitely become Alex, but Edward is much less likely to become Teddy if you don't instigate it. Benjamin to Jim is a big stretch and he'd be likely to become Ben at school.

MrsGilly1 · 13/06/2020 13:01

Albie?
Blake?
Colby?
Dexter?
Elias?
Finley?
George?
Henri?
