I always thought I'd go with violet but I don't know if it's getting to popular now

Help!

Hermione - hate!
Violet ok as a middle name
Melody not keen
Maisie absolutely no
Zara nice

CharlieBoo · 10/06/2020 18:30

Love Violet x

toastofthetown · 10/06/2020 18:44

Hermione - love it
Violet - it's nice, but it's popular and climbing steadily. If popularity is important to you, I'd focus on whether the name is rising in popularity as much as where is is now. This site is great for checking name trends
Melody - pretty, slightly twee to me It's one of those names which isn't too popular, but no-one will have problem spelling or pronouncing it
Maisie - far too cutesy for me
Zara - great name, but in the top hundred. I'm not sure where your popularity cutoff is, but it's similar to Violet in popularity (albeit not currently climbing)

I love Violet as it was my grandma's name.

I have a Zara ( who would love to be called Hermione!)

17caterpillars1mouse · 10/06/2020 19:18

Hermione - I like it, but I don't like HP so would personally avoid it as the HP comments would drive me mad

Violet - it's OK, I'm hearing it alot which makes it feel a bit bland now. Also my autocorrect often changes it to Violent

Melody - it's OK, not a favourite

Maisie - I really like Maisie, though prefer Maisy spelling but I'm not sure I'd want to be an adult called Maisie as it is cutesy.

Zara - nice, classy

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 10/06/2020 19:28

I’m pregnant And Melody is top of my list, most people aren’t keen but I love it

BabyDust13 · 10/06/2020 20:14

I'm beginning to think it would be easier if we had a boy 😂😂 we only have 1 name we both like makes it easier

@OnlyFoolsnMothers my oh loves Melody I do like it but not so keen on Mel my fav is Violet but again I'm not keen on Vi for this reason I'm starting to think Zara is good because it can't really get shortened. I dont think of HP with Hermione because I'm not a fan. I think like others have said Maisie is probably good for a youngster but not so much on a teenager

I think they are a really disparate bunch of names.

Hermione - 7/10 I know two so it feels familiar. If I didn’t I think I’d like it less

Violet - 7/10
Melody - 4/10 sounds American to me. I have American relative called this.
Maisie - 4/10 very young and cute
Zara - I don’t like the look but like the name 8/10

Congrats op.

Caramel78 · 10/06/2020 20:22

Love Violet. Maisie is my second favourite. Not keen on the others

Ducky1900 · 11/06/2020 18:11

When i was pregnant first time, I had my heart set on violet.
I had a son, now I don't like violet.
I'm edging towards more traditional names like
Charlotte (Lottie)
Hannah
Sophie
Katie / Katy / Kate
I also like Jasmine.

Buttercup54321 · 11/06/2020 23:32

Only like Zara

FizzyGreenWater · 11/06/2020 23:41

Zara would be my choice.

Violet I do NOT get the love for, and I think it will fall back out of favour very quickly. You can see the logic - oh, retro girls name - tick, flower name - tick! Omg we have discovered a neglected gem. Err, no. It's harsh, it's almost the same as 'violent', Vi is a TERRIBLE short form option. Awful.

Aclh13 · 12/06/2020 01:10

1.Zara
2.Hermione/maisie
3.Violet
4.Melody

ATomeOfOnesOwn · 12/06/2020 01:16

I like Violet and Maisie.
Zara reminds me of the shop.

insertcaffeine · 12/06/2020 01:17

Violet and Zara are nice. I prefer Zara.

mam0918 · 12/06/2020 20:18

Hermione - 1/10 just too harry potter
Violet - 4/10 its nice but a bit average/common
Melody - 6/10 I quite like it but dont love it
Maisie - 1/10 I hate it, too cute and childish sounding
Zara - 8/10 a strong choice thats not common but suits an adult well

emcam04 · 13/06/2020 09:15

Hermione does just make me think of Harry Potter!
Violet I love and I'm hoping to use for my baby due in October, so I'm a little bias.
Melody I'm not too sure on but I think it's because I haven't really heard it before! Also not keen on the nickname Mel.
Maisie is beautiful and is my sisters names (now 16), will get 'Mais' a lot as a shortened version but it suits her perfectly.
Zara I like but we have a family tortoise called Zara, which is what ruled it out for us Smile

POP7777777 · 13/06/2020 09:25

They're all nice. Zara is my first choice, Melody last.
