Hello, what are people’s opinions on this name for upcoming DS? Middle name will be Henry, Joseph or George. Cheers Smile

I don't love them but I don't dislike them. Just feels a little bit meh. For some reason the name Frank instantly reminds me of Otto Frank like I can't help it. It happens every single time so for me the only Frank is him.

Francis is okay. Reminds me of Malcolm in the middle and he was quite funny so I don't mind it. I'm not sure either of the first name options flow with your middles though. This is just my absolutely personal view on these names though

Lovely. I would go for Francis with Frank for short.

@shadylamppost am I some uncultured swine for having no idea of what you are talking about with either 😂

Oh Otto Frank is Anne Frank's father. I'm a big fan of history and have read her diary a million times so also the now very popular name Otto instantly makes me think of him. I'll actually go "Otto Frank" in my head every single time

I like Francis a lot, but I don't like Frank or Frankie so that's the name ruled out for me. I'd happily use it as a middle name because you can't shorten those.

Two of my boys have middle names that I love in full but can't bear the diminutives of. I reckoned as middle names they were safe from being messed around with Grin

As a suggestion for an alternative - Franklin, it's on my list and if used I would use nn Frankie

WinterAndRoughWeather · 09/06/2020 03:43

Frank was my grandad’s name, I love it. It’s a satisfying word to say - simple, nice hard consonants. It’s old fashioned but got something about it that keeps it feeling timeless.

copperoliver · 09/06/2020 03:44

I prefer Frankie. X
Frankie George. X

newmum332 · 09/06/2020 07:55

I like Frank but not keen on Francis.
Have you thought of Franklin? It’s a bit more current than Francis but lends itself to Frank and Frankie and isn’t that popular either.

elfran · 09/06/2020 09:31

I love Francis, not that keen on Frank (like Frankie though). But it's a great name, and goes with any of your middle choices.

QuentinQuarantino · 09/06/2020 09:52

I love Frank, so much so that I have one myself!

It was my grandad's name so has familial meaning but it's also just a great old-fashioned but cool name.

He's just Frank. I'm not one for full name/nickname but Francis is nice too.

Cannot stand Franklin (horribly American) and also really dislike Frankie for a boy (but love it for a girl 😂).

Angel2702 · 09/06/2020 16:31

I love Frank / franklin don’t like Francis or Frankie though.

ZebraKid71 · 12/06/2020 20:22

I love it but Frankie is very popular in my area so that would put me off x
