Aurelia Evelyn

Evelyn is after my grandmother but I would use Eve if it followed better - not sure which is best.

Thoughts?

I really like Aurelia, though like others would naturally say it or ree lea. I’ve never met one, but I did see it’s in at no 11 in popularity for this year, if that bothers you? Personally I think go with a you love, wherever it ranks!

Prettylittlelady · 02/06/2020 20:46

@Carabu1 can I ask where you saw that it was number 11?

I live Evelyn but not so sure about Aurelia

It makes me think of an areola
Sorry

AdaColeman · 02/06/2020 20:50

Both are lovely names. I’d use Evelyn as not only is it pretty, but that was your Grandmother’s name.

justanotherneighinparadise · 02/06/2020 20:54

Love Ray as a nn 👌

Prettylittlelady · 02/06/2020 21:08

@stophuggingme can’t say I’ve heard someone say that before! But each to their own! There are certain names I can’t use because I can’t stop hearing something else eg violet all I hear is violent but don’t think my mind would ever go that!

@justanotherneighinparadise thank you, I think especially as the name is very feminine if that’s not in her nature Ray is cute for a little one but gives an option as an adult if she’s more comfortable with that.

Auralia is Au-ray-lia

Auralia is not a name.

Aurelia is pronounced as the OP wants. Some people may mispronounce it, but they can easily be corrected.

Chattercino · 02/06/2020 21:14

Both names have more than one different pronunciations

bridgetreilly · 02/06/2020 21:14

It's lovely, OP. Stick with Evelyn not Eve.

stophuggingme · 02/06/2020 21:15
Grin Well you asked for thoughts
GameOfGroans · 02/06/2020 21:21

I'd definitely stick with Evelyn rather than Eve. I named my daughter Rose after my Nan, however always regretted that I didn't choose her full name which was Rosina. Aurelia Evelyn is lovely!

BikeRunSki · 02/06/2020 21:25

Lovely names, lovely combination
My gm was also Evelyn, and DD was nearly Evelyn for this reason. She wasn’t because she was born at Peak Evie, and her middle name was definitely decided before she was even born.

Carabu1 · 02/06/2020 21:41

@Prettylittlelady it was here - www.standard.co.uk/lifestyle/london-life/most-popular-baby-names-2020-a4424656.html. There’s still a lot of 2020 to go though, obviously! Like I say, I’ve never met one, and I don’t think ranking would bother me but I know some people can be funny about names that are on the up. I live Evelyn as a middle name too. So classic. Go for what you love, and you can’t go wrong :)

Prettylittlelady · 02/06/2020 22:34

Thank you @Carabu1 I think Nameberry where that’s from might be an American site so that makes me less worried, I would like to avoid a top 20 name if possible but then I am also of the opinion of you love it go for it!

CoffeeRunner · 02/06/2020 22:39

I love Aurelia Eve or Aurelia Evelyn. Both are great.

I would also pronounce Aurelia as Or-ray-lia.

Aurora is also similar & nice.

forestsmurf · 02/06/2020 22:44

Beautiful choice

user1493494961 · 02/06/2020 23:53

I also thought areola.

Carabu1 · 03/06/2020 07:53

Ahhh because it was in the Evening standard it fooled me! My top choice atm is in the top 20 according to that too, but if I can persuade oh I’m going to use it anyway :)

Prettylittlelady · 03/06/2020 13:28

@CoffeeRunner thank you Smile glad there are others who would say it the way I do!

@Carabu1 @Prettylittlelady Nameberry just list their most searched names. That data is solely based on the names users of Nameberry search for. Not based on statistics of what people actually name their babies. That's why Nameberry's list always contain mostly unusual rare names. It's names that people haven't really heard of before so they search. The actual top names like Olivia and Oliver and Harry don't tend to appear in Nameberrys top 100 search results for that reason. And yes it's an American site

Aurelia is gorgeous !! ❤️❤️

Carabu1 · 03/06/2020 15:06

@Whatsyourflava - thanks, thats so worth knowing! The evening standard is peddling fake news in that case!

Prettylittlelady · 05/06/2020 05:29

@Whatsyourflava thank you 😊

I love Aurelia and ever since I saw your earlier thread I’ve been thinking of adding to my list.
