I also like the idea of combining a pretty name with Jo or Joy in any combination (as in Jo Ella or Mary Jo etc.). Would love some more name ideas. Any other suggestions you might care to share would be appreciated. Thanks.

I would go with Joanne(a) it ticks your boxes and isn't very fussy.

Joanna or Joanne ate lovely names
If you want a hyphen, Jo-Ann has been an acceptable variation of Joanne for many years
Joelle or Joella might suit what you are looking for
Most hyphenated names are ... ummm... “trendy”, even a bit chavvy
Sorry!

Joanne
Johannah
Josephine

I'm not keen on hyphenated first names, as I have one myself and dislike it. Joy works much better as a middle name than Jo does. I especially like the flow of it with three-syllable first names.

Francesca Joy

Miranda Joy
Michaela Joy
Emmeline Joy

Lene!

I agree with the hyphenated first name thing, with apologies it always makes me think of backswood families in the Appalachians! Joanna/Johanna/Josephine are all nice though

Sorry but I know a lot if Jos and they are all late 30s so I don’t see the appeal. Jo doesn’t really go as a middle name either. What are your favourite first names?
