Hi all,

Me and DH have mixed feelings about this girls name (he loves it and I keep changing my mind lol).

If you heard this name (pronounced; Kez-EE-ah) what would you think? Who would you expect to use it? Do you like how it sounds?

Don’t be afraid of being rude in any way! I want your gut reaction lol x

My dd has a friend with this name, she gets called Keshi. It’s a nice name.

totallyyesno · 31/05/2020 18:24

The Diddakoi.

TempsPerdu · 31/05/2020 18:24

Other than Kezia Dugdale, I’d think of someone from quite a conservative religious family - both of the two Keziahs I’ve met were evangelical Christians.

catinb0oots · 31/05/2020 18:27

A lovely harpist I used to know

PickUpAPickUpAPenguin · 31/05/2020 18:30

The one I know pronounces it Kez - eye -ah If it's a name like Alicia (I've heard A-liss-ee-uh, A-lee-sha...) with more than one pronunciation, would that annoy you?

GuiltyBark · 31/05/2020 18:31

I would intuitively pronounce it differently to the way you say. Not mad on it tbh. Kez is quite a 'hard' nickname.

emilybrontescorsett · 31/05/2020 18:33

I would pronounce it Kez eye ah too.
My first thought was an African name, suiting a slim, black child with long wild hair and a free spirit.

GuiltyBark · 31/05/2020 18:33

Even if spelled "Kezia" I'd be putting the emphasis on the Kez part unless I was told differently.

Curlyshabtree · 31/05/2020 18:35

I love it, was a fave for DD but DH not as keen.
My neighbour’s cat is Kizzy and Kizzy was also a character in Roots.

3LittleMonkeyz · 31/05/2020 18:39

I've met a couple both kez-EE-ah but one went by Kez and the other by Kizzy. They were both 80s babies and middle class, rural

ImFree2doasiwant · 31/05/2020 18:40

I know a Keziah. Pronounced Keh-ZY-ah. Unfortunately she's a drug user and in and out of prison, as is her sister. She's the only person I've known with the name.

SweatyAmy · 31/05/2020 18:42

I know a child Keziah, very posh family, the father went to Eton.

There's also a Keziah or two in my family tree, as well as names like Thirza, Hester, Jabez, Israel and Ezra. I assumed they were all rather religious.

I do like Keziah though and would consider it myself (DH is religious and his church will only baptise children with a christian first or middle name).

IWantT0BreakFree · 31/05/2020 18:44

I've not heard it before and before all the comments RE it being a traditional biblical name, I'd have lumped it in the same category as Jaxon/Maddox/Neveah/Mackenzie etc.

There's a name that I have in mind for a boy that's very similar. It's a beautiful traditional regional name, but it hits the ear completely differently if you don't know its history I think.

reginafelangee · 31/05/2020 18:45

Kezia Dugdale for me too

Sportsnight · 31/05/2020 18:46

I know two! A KEH-Zee-a and a keh-ZYE-a. (Capitals for the stressed syllable). I think it’s a lovely name, and slightly prefer the latter pronunciation which sounds more biblical.

sweetnosugar · 31/05/2020 19:03

I went to uni with a lovely girl called Kezia. She never used it, didn’t like it at all. Now in her early 30’s she still uses the nn Kizzy. She came from a very wealthy family, never heard of the name until I met her.

Thecazelets · 31/05/2020 19:05

The Rumer Godden book and TV series in the 70s ( Kizzy). Am old though.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 31/05/2020 19:08

The fruitarian from Nottting Hill.
Not in a good way sadly

LizzieVereker · 31/05/2020 19:08

I teach a girl called Keziah, but she pronounces it Kay-zee-ah. She’s tall, of mixed racial heritage and very good at public speaking and Maths. So that’s how I see girls with that name.

middleager · 31/05/2020 19:12

I knew one. Her mother was chief of the playground clique and not a nice person.

Artus · 31/05/2020 19:15

Kez-EYE a

Evangelical Christian

highmarkingsnowbile · 31/05/2020 19:17

The Book of Job. What does 'Jemimah' make you think of, it should be the same thing.

sergeilavrov · 31/05/2020 19:40

The annoying woman who was rude to Grace on The Bill.

KingOfDogShite · 31/05/2020 19:43

Bullying bitch I went to school with.

Rover83 · 31/05/2020 19:50

I would assume a name of African origin and I would have pronounced it Keh-ZY-ah
