Hi all,

Me and DH have mixed feelings about this girls name (he loves it and I keep changing my mind lol).

If you heard this name (pronounced; Kez-EE-ah) what would you think? Who would you expect to use it? Do you like how it sounds?

Don’t be afraid of being rude in any way! I want your gut reaction lol x

The film Notting Hill but only cos that's the only time I've heard the name before. Its quite pretty.

helpfulperson · 31/05/2020 17:48

Sorry, should also have said that I think it's very pretty and would use it.

beachbreeze · 31/05/2020 17:49

Always liked it. I only knew one, who calls herself Kezi.

Nohero · 31/05/2020 17:50

I knew one at uni and she was startlingly clever so I think of someone very bright.

DramaAlpaca · 31/05/2020 17:51

@whiteroseredrose

Kizzy which was a children's TV programme in the 1970s.
Same here, and the book.
DramaAlpaca · 31/05/2020 17:52

Sorry, forgot to say I like it.

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 31/05/2020 17:52

I know two: seems to be popular in Cornwall! No problems spelling or pronouncing it 'round eer.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 31/05/2020 17:52

Sounds made up although obviously it isnt

MrsWooster · 31/05/2020 17:53

Another that thinks of the book ‘The Didakoi’. God, I loved that book. The miniature caravan...!

TeacupDrama · 31/05/2020 17:56

to me it's a Hebrew Jewish Christian Old Testament name really nice name

Inthemuckheap · 31/05/2020 17:57

Prefer Keisha personally. Keziah will be shortened to Kezzy

WyfOfBathe · 31/05/2020 17:58

I had a childhood friend called Keziah. Her siblings all had fairly unusual Biblical names too and her DF was a vicar, so I like the name but I might assume you were religious (I don't know if this is true/would bother you)

wiltingflower · 31/05/2020 18:00

I thought it might be a religious or unfortunately a chavvy name at first

BlackBucketOfCheese · 31/05/2020 18:01

Notting Hill.

BlackBucketOfCheese · 31/05/2020 18:01

^ the film.

SimonJT · 31/05/2020 18:01

A lovely name, not only one of Jacobs daughters but it also refers to equality.

Ofitck · 31/05/2020 18:02

The one I know pronounces it KETS ee ah, almost like an Italian Z. She's my age. Pretty name, biblical.

Helenluvsrob · 31/05/2020 18:02

The diddidakoi

Chinesetakeawaay · 31/05/2020 18:02

@Veterinari the only one I have met with this name pronounced it that way so I've always assumed that she was right.

NotMeNoNo · 31/05/2020 18:04

Friends of ours called their daughter Keziah, I had to look it up but its lovely. Shes 16 now so they were ahead of the curve!

rosyribbon · 31/05/2020 18:05

Dugdale.
Went to school with her so it's always been on the no list for me

belfasteast · 31/05/2020 18:06

It's Biblical and I've heard it a fair bit here in NI, mostly staunch protestants. Mostly heard it pronounced Kez-eye-ah but one person didn't like that pronunciation so got the pastor's blessing to make it Kez-ya

belfasteast · 31/05/2020 18:07

I think the actual Hebrew pronunciation is closer to Kesh-ya.

Blursula · 31/05/2020 18:08

For want of a better term, I’d look at it and think ‘chavvy’ (in all honesty). I would pronounce it Kezzy-a

PintOfGin · 31/05/2020 18:09

I think it's a small character in the film nothing hill, she's a bit batty and is a fruitarian hippy.
