Wudgy · 30/05/2020 21:13

Expecting a girl shortly and have several similar names we like as well as a few others.
Hannah
Alana
Lana
Leah
Lena
Elena
Alina
Beth
Julia

My initial favourite is Lana but saw a post on here recently about how if spelt backwards ( by friends, cruel classmates etc) it’s not a name to give!

What are your thoughts on all these names ?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Love Leah and Beth

Like Hannah, Lana (although I can't say it without singing Lana Banana!), Julia and Elena (but spelt Eleanor).

Not keen on Alana, Lena, Alina

bridgetreilly · 30/05/2020 21:24

Beth is my favourite, though I'd probably use a full name of Bethan or Elizabeth.

I don't mind Julia, but prefer Juliet.

Not a huge fan of any of the others. There's so many of those 'ah' names around at the moment and they all blend into one.

babynamelover · 30/05/2020 21:33

I like Hannah it's more unexpected and will stand out more than all the short girls names ending in a 😊.
Or use Anna, my name it's great works for all ages.

PlantPottingPlantPotting · 30/05/2020 21:41

I like Alana (if it’s pronounced a-law-an)

PlantPottingPlantPotting · 30/05/2020 21:41

A-law-na Blush ^^

Canklesforankles · 30/05/2020 21:44

I had a relative who was Helena and Lena for short. Now I wish I’d used that for mine 😕

pilates · 30/05/2020 21:49

Hannah is my favourite

YouSayTomatoISayBloodyMary · 30/05/2020 22:37

You have great taste!

My favourites are:

Hannah - classic, lovely
Lena - was on my list too but the Leena/Layna thing, having to correct pronunciation put me off
Elena - similar issue
Julia - beautiful

I vote Hannah

123Dancewithme · 30/05/2020 23:03

Julia is the best on your list.

Whatsyourflava · 30/05/2020 23:06

Lana is lovely. How about Clara or Cleo

user1493494961 · 30/05/2020 23:11

I like Beth, Julia and Hannah. Not keen on the others, lots of girls with similar names and agree with pp, they all blend into one.

RoseGoldEagle · 30/05/2020 23:18

Love the name Hannah. Doesn’t go with our second name or I’d choose that! Beth is lovely too

Edenember · 31/05/2020 00:00

@Wudgy my favourite is Hannah. Love that name... timeless classic but not overused nowadays. I agree with others that some of the other options feel a bit lost in a sea of similar sounding names and therefore not ‘strong’ on their own, but it just come down to personal taste, your child will make the name their own.

Aclh13 · 31/05/2020 00:16

Diverseduvet · 31/05/2020 00:18

Don't like any, sorry

Alphablocs · 31/05/2020 00:21

Leah is the nicest.

Flappingflamingo · 31/05/2020 00:21

Hannah or Leah. My youngest was nearly called Leah but our surname starts with an L so it sounded a bit much together, but I still love it. And you don't come across many Hannah's these days

cheercaptain · 31/05/2020 00:41

Hannah is my favourite. Also like Beth.

Phoebeboo · 31/05/2020 05:38

My favourite is Lena, followed by Beth and then Hannah.

CoffeeRunner · 31/05/2020 06:28

How are you pronouncing Elena? As Eleanor, El-ee-na or El-en-a? If pronounced El-en-a it’s really pretty. To me though if you pronounce it Eleanor it just looks as though you couldn’t spell Eleanor.

Of the other names on your list I like Hannah & Leah.

BikeRunSki · 31/05/2020 06:33

I like them all except Alana and Alina. I like Hannah and Leah the best.

userabcname · 31/05/2020 06:37

Beth is lovely! I'd definitely go for that.

autumngold6 · 31/05/2020 06:43

I like Hannah, Beth, Leah and Julia. Not keen on the others.

arianwe · 31/05/2020 06:45

Love Alana
