Hi I really love the name Remy for a boy, but am a little worried due to its growing popularity with girls? Xx

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I knew a male Remi but he was french. I wouldn’t assume Remy was a girl.

sweetnosugar · 29/05/2020 09:15

It was 232rd for boys in 2018, Wales and England. I’ve never met one myself.
I can see a little Remy, although not to sure I can see it on a full grown man. I do like it though!
I guess a name grows with the child though, it becomes ‘their name’ and works itself out if you understand what I’m trying to say?!

DariaMorgendorffer · 29/05/2020 09:15

I would assume Remy is a boy. Cute name.

Destroyedpeople · 29/05/2020 09:18

I would always assume that Remy was a boy because it's a boy's name.

Love it by the way classic and cool.

Plus you can take him to St Remy for his holidays.

I did know one that was my generation (old) but have not met one since...

aggie1985 · 29/05/2020 09:19

Thank you, it's just the town where I live there has been about 5 Remi-Leigh girls... its just putting me off naming it him. But I can't find any other name I like xx

Oh Remi Leigh.... really? How annoying.

If you like the name go for it. At least it's a boy's name. ....

And it is not a nickname for Remus it's a fine name on its own right

BlusteryLake · 29/05/2020 10:02

I love the name Remy and have never heard it for a girl. I know two boys called Remy.

starfish18 · 29/05/2020 10:02

Hiya when we were looking at baby names we liked remy but I thought it was a girls name but my husband said it's a boys name xxx

BuffaloCauliflower · 29/05/2020 10:05

The only Remy’s I know are boys. Not my style but it’s fine. Remi-Leigh is awful, but then so are most double barrelled first names if you’re English.

I live in New Zealand I know two male Remy under five and one girl Remi in Canada under two.

sweetnosugar · 29/05/2020 10:58

If you like it go for it! It’s your baby! Definitely a boys name, the others you know are girls, Remi-Leigh isn’t the same.

MondeoFan · 29/05/2020 11:06

I like it, I'd go with it. The only Remy I know is a bottle of whisky but that wouldn't put me off using it.

Blursula · 29/05/2020 12:24

Gorgeous!

123Dancewithme · 29/05/2020 12:31

My DS goes to nursery with a boy Remy. I really like it.

Fifthtimelucky · 29/05/2020 13:19

I know a little Remy (male). Have never heard it used as a girls' name.

pinkpinecone · 29/05/2020 13:35

I think of Remy as a unisex name. I've come across it used for both boys and girls but a bit more for boys.

Destroyedpeople · 29/05/2020 13:41

It's not a 'unisex' name it's definitely a boy's name. Mind you there are people convinced that Ezra or Aubrey are also girls' names when they are clearly not...

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 29/05/2020 13:43

I know a little Remy, he's 7 and very cool.

GertiMJN · 29/05/2020 13:45

I know a 15 year old Remy. Great name. No problems being confused with a girl.

aggie1985 · 29/05/2020 13:46

Thank you all, am going to stick with Remy 💙💙. I know people use other names like Riley, Bailey and Reece for girls too, which I always think are boys names. I suppose we are in 2020, anything goes 🤣🤣 xx
