Heard the name Aurelia today.
Pronounced as au-ree-lia.

Something about it appealed to me.
Would be interested to hear your views/opinions on the name?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I taught a girl (Year 7) last year with that name and absolutely adored it (she was a lovely pupil too - trust me, when they’re awful you can be turned off a name forever, there are names I used to love which I would never now use!) It’s definitely on my list for any future baby girls.

Reminds me of Love Actually. I like it but Would nickname be ok? Raily?

WalkTheLine99 · 28/05/2020 22:12

I think it’s beautiful! Maybe Aura as a shorter version x

GlamGiraffe · 28/05/2020 22:13

Really love the name but I've only ever heard it pronounced as aw-reh-lee-uh.
The name Aurelie is similar and also nice, pronounced Or-eh-Lee.

BeMorePacific · 28/05/2020 22:15

Beautiful. Although I read it as Aur - ay - lia xxx

OneMoreLight · 28/05/2020 22:22

I read it as Or-el-ia middle bit could because of my accent.

I guess nicknames Aura or Lia would be used.

Whatsyourflava · 28/05/2020 22:27

I love love love it!

sunandrose · 28/05/2020 22:29

Beautiful. This was so high up on our name list. If we had a third- which is so unlikely- this would be the forerunner!

I liked the Au-ree-lia pronounciation but DH preferred Au-day-lia

sunandrose · 28/05/2020 22:30

*Au-ray-lia not Au-day-Lia!

SebandAlice · 28/05/2020 22:30

Love it!

FourTeaFallOut · 28/05/2020 22:31

Sounds like a Disney Princess, cute for a kid.

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 28/05/2020 22:35

As someone who has Aurelie as a middle name not a first name because my English father couldn't pronounce it properly I'd steer clear.

Roseburn · 28/05/2020 22:43

oh really?

123Dancewithme · 28/05/2020 22:53

I’ve met a few baby/toddler Aurelias. I think it’s getting popular, along with Aurora.

skinnyhotchoc · 28/05/2020 22:55

The woman on love actually puts me off

Chickydoo · 28/05/2020 23:00

Oh, really yah
I grew up in the 1980's

PatchworkElmer · 28/05/2020 23:00

I really like it.

Franticbutterfly · 29/05/2020 00:59

Its a skincare range.

daisypond · 29/05/2020 06:58

Not keen, but there are worse names. It’s better than Aurelie.

zigaziga · 29/05/2020 07:15

I know of one, it’s a lovely name. In her case it’s pronounced Or-ray-lee-ah, I didn’t know the “ree” version.
Anyway, all the versions are similar enough and I wouldn’t let that put me off.

sunlightflower · 29/05/2020 07:17

I like it, nickname could be Lia.

Edenember · 29/05/2020 11:12

It’s a bit too long and frilly for my tastes... then again I have Ottilia on my list 😂 but that’s very much an exceptional case. I find it preferable to the similar sounding Amelia

Carouselfish · 29/05/2020 22:39

Love it, but said as Au - RAY - lia. I know a 5 year old one, shortened to Rae.

Ellmau · 30/05/2020 20:18

Beautiful.

Polly99 · 30/05/2020 20:21

I love it. Wish I had thought of it for my DD1.
