Madeleine? Spelling?

Please could I get your thoughts on the baby girls name Madeleine? Do you like it?
Also wondering what the best spelling is?

I have a Madeleine, spelt like you suggest. Beautiful name. Plus she is the only one in her primary school!

I think it is really pretty. I would spell it Madeline personally x

Depends on whether you want the end of her name to be pronounced INE (eye-n) or IN (as in bin) I think

It’s a nice name but however you spell it, others will spell it and say it differently.

Madeleine as you have spelt it is French I believe. We have one in my family and she spells it that way, though every one else always mispells it! No one has ever called her Maddie.

They are both French, but the different spellings are pronounced differently in France. Without the extra e it's Mad (uh) leen. Madeleine is more like Mad (uh) lehn.

It's nice (assuming you're pronouncing it "lin" or "len" and not "line") and Madeleine is the correct spelling.

Madeline has a different pronunciation to Madeleine, so if you're pronouncing it Mad-uh-lin, it should be Madeleine.
