Trying to decide on a name and we really can’t choose, Im thinking I want a name which is l longer and formal ish to put on the bc but with a nickname to call her everyday, so far I like: Harriet (hattie), Olivia (Liv), Annabel (Belle), Isabella (bella) and Abigail (Abi).
Which ddo you prefer and why?
Thanks 😊

Whilst I do like Liv, Olivia is done to death at this point.
Annabel I dislike because I've met many snooty ones and I think it sounds a bit frilly.
I like Isabella, less popular than it was a few years ago which is good. Popularity isn't too important of course but nobody wants a name thst is overused!
Harriet I like, definition of a classic!
Abigail, a classic and very underused now. Might be refreshing?

Elsmum25 · 26/05/2020 17:45

They're all lovely names but I really like Harriet, it is my daughter's middle name too so pretty biased here!

Winkywoop · 26/05/2020 17:47

They're all nice!

But I would pick Harriet

Wolfgirrl · 26/05/2020 17:47

They're nice and what I would call 'pony girl' names. I like Abigail and Harriet best, I like the nicknames Abby and Harry.

SnowdropFox · 26/05/2020 17:48

Harriet for me. The others are just a bit more popular here and i prefer the nns.

Giganticshark · 26/05/2020 17:48

Annabel. Shortened to Ana or belle.
Hattie is gross. Isabelle is overdone.
Abigail has Gail, which is dreadful

bridgetreilly · 26/05/2020 17:49

Harriet nn Hattie. Lovely, not too popular, easy to spell and pronounce.

I also really like Annabel, but not Belle. Annabel nn Annie would be lovely.

RaN88 · 26/05/2020 17:51

Harriet is a very nice name. It's not modern but it's not old. I'm not personally keen on the others as most make it into the top baby names of recent, they'll wear out quickly. I was recruiting last week and looking through the CVs I could almost tell you when each person was born by their name - overused and out of fashion!! I think Harriet is understated and beautiful.

Blondeieee · 26/05/2020 17:51

Also does anyone have any suggestions of names of a similar style?

AdaColeman · 26/05/2020 17:51

I wouldn't use Annabelle or Isabelle as the Belle names are hugely popular already, and the same goes for Olivia.
So Harriet would be my choice.

peperethecat · 26/05/2020 17:51

I like Harriet and Annabel if left as it is or shortened to Annie. Belle is too Disney princess for my liking.

Whatsyourflava · 26/05/2020 17:53

I like Harriet best!
How about Jemima? Chloe? Cleo? Martha? Clementine? Delilah? Holly? Margot

Whatsyourflava · 26/05/2020 17:54

Ottilie /Ottie instead of Olivia?

Whatsyourflava · 26/05/2020 17:54

Eliza

Whatsyourflava · 26/05/2020 17:54

Felicity

peperethecat · 26/05/2020 17:57

Really don't get the Mumsnet obsession with Ottilie. It's dreadful. Never come across anyone called this in real life.

scrivette · 26/05/2020 17:58

I like Harriet best out of your list, the others are very popular too.

Georgina/Georgia
Henrietta/Henri
Charlotte/Charlie or Lottie

Epigram · 26/05/2020 17:59

I like all of your list except the nickname Belle. My favourite is Olivia.

lobsteroll · 26/05/2020 17:59

I think they are lovely, but 2 of them are my girls names so perhaps I'm biased 😂

As additions, what about Francesca (cesca), Felicity (Fliss) Elizabeth (Libby)?

alwaysonadiet1 · 26/05/2020 18:00

Abigail

MarieQueenofScots · 26/05/2020 18:00

Harriet shortened to Hattie is lovely.

Henrietta shortened to Hetty?

Matilda shortened to Tilly?

SE13Mummy · 26/05/2020 18:06

Harriet and Abigail are my favourites from your list. I prefer names that don't end with an ee' or 'uh' sound but also like these two because they don't feel overused. Alice, Madeleine, Florence, Ellen, Rachel and Robyn are others that might work.

CuppaZa · 26/05/2020 18:13

I like them all apart from Olivia.

Edenember · 26/05/2020 18:13

@Blondeieee Harriet is my favourite from your list by a mile. Manages to be both cute on a little one and elegant on a lady, feminine but not frilly, spunky and would equally suit a tomboy or a girly girl. Not overused either but everyone knows it. Beautiful name x

sibbys · 26/05/2020 18:28

I really like Abigail Grin
