Sister for Ray

We have a little boy called Ray (not short for anything), looking for suggestions for his sister please as nothing’s really clicking at the moment!

I tend to like old-fashioned names like Mabel, Ida, Greta, Beatrix, etc. Also love quite “brave” names like Hero and Dove, but not sure they’re the most practical.

I like your ideas, although Greta can sound a bit harsh. I worked in a school with one who was the kind of child who's name you heard over and over iyswim so that's probably clouded my judgement Grin

Just wanted to say that Ray is a fab name!!

Erynn · 22/05/2020 21:10

Ahhh thank you @dementedma! It’s one of the few we could agree on for boys.

Some great suggestions, thanks everyone! I really like Edith/Edie, Esther, Violet, Pearl and Sally so far.

Thanks! Just checking back. I really like Gwen, Agnes, Astrid. Quite like Meg, but not keen on Megan. Can Meg be a full name on its own?

Also, any thoughts on Joss for a girl? Husband’s suggestion which I actually kind of love! (He doesn’t normally suggest much so I’m excited Grin)

Mabel and Great and Pearl are lovely

Flymetothestars · 24/05/2020 13:32

Joss is a boys name isn't it?

Erynn · 24/05/2020 16:00

Ooh I like Peggy and Frida!

I think Joss is unisex, like Joss Stone for example (it’s a nickname I know but I think it works for both).

Meg is fine on it's own, but people will try to make it Megan.

It's really nice. I don't like the -un sound in Megan.

MikeUniformMike · 26/05/2020 14:37

Joss could be short for Josephine or Josceline

Ray and Aileen

MikeUniformMike · 26/05/2020 21:18

There's a thought. Eileen or a name from that era.
