When I was at school everyone was Emma, Rachel, Rebecca and a few variants of Katy thrown in. Also quite a few Hollies which is odd. I was born in the 1990s.

Jennifer and Rebecca definitely. Lovely names though, and in the 80s growing up with an uncommon first name I wanted to have a more popular one. Funny now a lot of parents (myself included) like to choose a name not many peers will have.

SoMuchToBits · 22/05/2020 23:05

Also Helen, Alison, Angela, Debbie, Sarah, Sue, Sally, Clare/Claire, Melanie, Tracey.

DeadButDelicious · 22/05/2020 23:05

We had a lot of Sarah's Claire's and Emma's. But by far and away the most common was actually a middle name. You were in a firm minority if your middle name wasn't Louise when I was at school. Sarah Louise being the run away favourite.

I was born in the early 80's.

Interestingly op I was born in the 70s and it was also Emma and Rebecca without a doubt. I moved schools, from a class with 3 Rebecca's and my new class had 3 Emma's in. And all the boys were called Paul.
