Twin name help!!

newmum332 · 21/05/2020 14:04

I'm expecting twins early July and I am stuck on names. We chose not to find out the sexes, and obviously it could therefore be any combination. Luckily we have a boy and a girl name that we are pretty certain on, but we can't agree if we end up with 2 of the same.

Ds1 would be Freddie Kit
Dd1 would be Stella Raine

Other names I like for potential Dd2 but Dh has completely ruled out are Willow, Marlow, Tess & Clara.
The other name I do like is Teddy (Theodore), however I am aware I obviously can't have a twinset Freddie and Teddy. I do like the name Seth but I just can't imagine having a baby Seth and I don't love it!

Friends have suggest using the middle names Kit and Raine as the first names if we happen to need them, but I don't like those names on there own, to me they are better as middle names.

Really stuck, any suggestions appreciated.

You could have Christopher with the nickname Kit

If you have two boys, split the boys name.
Freddie (new middle name) & Kit (new middle name)

If you have two girls,
Stella Raine & Hermione Rose

Theo or Ted instead of Teddy
Fred instead of Freddie

I love Freddie and Kit as nicknames, I'd just go with those, as a pp has suggested, in the case of two boys. I'd be inclined to choose:

Frederick (nn Freddie) + other middle
Christopher (nn Kit) + other middle

But then I love the flexibility a longer first name plus nn options has given me, personally.

For girls, there have been some great suggestions above but I don't see Hazel, which I love with Stella, so I'll add that.

Freddie and Teddy is fine.

Stella and Celeste
Stella and Tabitha

Freddie and Billy
Freddie and Max

Thank you everyone, some new names I hadn't though of. I really like Sadie for a 2nd girls name.

I like the suggestion of Freddie and Kit (Christopher) with new middle names however I am reluctant to suggest it for the below reason.

When we first found out we were expecting Dh insisted that if we had a boy middle name would be Douglas after his grandfather. I'm not sure if I am being totally unreasonable and insensitive but I absolutely HATE the name. I have not even considered using it. If we need to agree on new middle names I am worried it will be mentioned again.

My DH was very close to his grandfather, I never met him as he had just passed when we met however I still just can't get my head around it. To give more context I have never really agreed with naming children after relatives, I know this is different for everyone, but I don't want to feel I have to go with a name just because it belonged to someone else.

What are peoples opinions? I feel like I am going around in circles and it is adding stress when it might not even be an issue.

Oh I'd just let him have Douglas as the middle name if you have two boys. It's a small ask.

Infact Kit/Christopher Douglas has a lovely ring to it.

I knew someone who called her bump Douglas in jest. When the baby was born they couldn't think of him as anything but Douglas so that is what he was named. It grows on you! And as a middle name it really is quite good.
