Wilfred alternatives

Hello

Due to have our baby a few days ago and thought we had settled on Wilfred
.......apparently not as the OH has started to pull faces.

So the other names we like are Louis (but just doesn't go with our last name and is quite popular) and Ellis (Also a no-go) and Rowan (Maybe) we like names with history but are a bit different too.....

Any suitable Wilfred alternatives?!

Wouldn't use anything that common and we will avoid the more popular of the historical names such as....Edmund, Edward, Edwin, Alfred, Albert, William, Henry, Percy, Ralph etc etc

If we have a girl I think....with the help of mumsnetters ;)..... we have settled on Edith.

I don't like last names as first names.

Sorry if I'm asking the impossible but any suggestions????

@matchboxtwentyunwell Merryn is lovely, didn't realise it was a boys name too. Will have to investigate further!

I think what I need is for the OH to back down and like Wilfred again, it's me doing the hard work after all!😅

We almost named DS Wilfred and went off it a bit before he was born. He's Stanley. We also had Albert, Hector, Henry and Hugo on our list.

@GoingBackTo505 Funny enough I mentioned Stanley as a Wilfred alternative about an hour a go! Perhaps this is a sign! We had briefly talked about the name a while back and I do like it and so does my OH. He said would a baby called Stan sound strange....I personally think its sweet.....you've obviously no regrets Switching Wilfred to Stanley?! I like your list x

@LondonTowers it's a sign! Our Stanley gets called Stan and Stanley and we like both as he does sometimes remind us of a little old man! No regrets about switching from Wilfred. I do still have a little smile to myself whenever I hear of a little Wilf, but it just wasn't for us. There was no real reason either, we just both felt it wasn't "the one" in the end.
