A baby brother for Jasper

My sister is due another boy in September and has asked for my help with a name. She loved Jasper for DS1 as fits so many things.

For example it can be posh English (like Rupert) and can imagine him doing some middle class job. It's also a bit quirky and hip though so not completly posh, also intentional (it's actually Persian and a bit of a nod to her dh Iranian grandma). So it fits loads of things.

What other names would work like that? She quite liked Arthur but has heard it so much and a bit too old man for her taste. (I still like it but that's her!)

I don't think Jasper is posh at all, quite the opposite in fact. Anyway - my first thought when reading the thread title was Hugo. Or something like Dexter, Dominic, Robert, Spencer, Zachary.

I just think of that Miranda episode when she does an impression of a posh man with a dog's called "Jahhhhsper"! 🤣 But I'll tell her as interesting to hear different interpretations.

Ok she sort of likes Tristan, Austin and maybe Rowan. Anyone have anymore international type names?

She likes constellation type names but doesn't think they'll be taken seriously whereas at least Jasper is traditonal too. I've told her she needs to have a girl.

I think it's really sweet you're helping her with this

Tristan and Austin are really great names and very underused. You said she'd like something less used, if so I'd probably suggest she avoid Rowan- it's increasing in popularity itself but is also very similar to a lot of other names especially Roman (with an M) which is the top fastest rising boys name. It's leaped about 600 places in recent years into the top 40 and will be top 20 in the next year or so. The new Noah.

I'll have a think about some more international names. Luca is nice but probably also too popular for your sister and too similar to other names Luke and Lucas.

I have to say I would NOT put Austin in with Jasper, Tristan or any of the names above really! I'd say that's a lot less posh and a lot more modern.

Rowan is MADLY popular, though nice.
