Middle name for Nina

doughnutmuffin · 20/05/2020 09:16

Due DD1 in September, we've chosen Nina but unsure on a middle name. I'm not sure if we should chose a family name or just another name we like.

Family names would be
Nina Mary
Nina Helen (doesn't flow?)
Nina Marie (abit dated?)

Other ideas
Nina Renée
Nina Niamh (too much alliteration?)
Nina Elise

DS has an Irish name with DHs name as a middle name

Any other ideas/opinions?

I love Nina Marie, it sounds lovely together.

LotusClover · 20/05/2020 09:59

Nina Marie and Nina Elise are nice. Nina Niamh is awful.

I like Nina Mary or Nina Helen

SnowdropFox · 20/05/2020 10:50

I like Nina Marie and Nina Renée. Not keen on Mary or Helen.
Nina I think means little girl so you could pair it with a middle name that have a quality such as kind, wise, friendly, strong? Adele is noble or kind for example.

Dd had a girl called Nina - Jay at her school. Really suited her!

When I read Nina Mary I kinda said Nina Marie in my head before I saw it was one of your options
Flows really well

Nina Adele flows quite well, not sure if I should use a family name or not Confused Marie is my middle name so would work having used DHs name for DS middle name but not sure if I like it, and not sure if my first name works, Leah?

Nina Margaret
Nina Clementine

Nina Iris

Do you pronounce your name Lee-ah? If so then I think the two ah sounds together would be a bit repetitive.

Dont feel you have to use a family name btw. My daughter has a family name from her dads side as a mn. If we have another I dont have any other family names that I like or have a sentimental reason to use. Most important to me is that I like it, I feel no duty to use a family name and I dont feel like i need to even things up because on my dds mn.

DH suggested Helen as it's his Grandmother that recently died but to be honest I don't like the name and my grandfather died just before I fell pregnant with DS and I didn't use his name at all. I think it's something older relatives really appreciate but I'm swaying towards just picking a name I like

Before I opened the thread I thought of Nina Marie then saw it as one of your options, great minds think alike!

I'm surprised no-one has suggested Simone Grin
