Hi

I'm due my second in July and haven't decided on a name just wanted peoples opinions!

The only girls name I love is Etta (we don't know gender of baby so may not even be an issue!) and my husband likes it too but we already have a little boy called Ezra. I can't decide if it goes really well or if its abit too similar sounding!!

Any views? Don't wanna ask family as not told anyone names we like as people always have something to say don't they!

Thanks in advance Smile

Hello! Firstly, both such lovely names. Congrats! However I do think that Ezra and Etta are fairly similar. Have you got any other names floating round at all?xx

pinkpinecone · 19/05/2020 17:36

They are both lovely but I agree they sound too similar. Etta is also a tricky one if your surname is a noun just like Iona it can make for some funny combinations.

Flymetothestars · 19/05/2020 17:43

I don't think they're too similar, love Ezra and Etta

I'm sure people will help with longer names you can have Etta as a nickname for

How about Greta

MikeUniformMike · 19/05/2020 17:49

I don't think they're too similar. As pp, be careful how it sounds with the surname.

Etta Lamb, Etta Young (what?), Etta Lott etc.

I think they are too similar

pinkpinecone · 19/05/2020 18:00

Etta Lott Grin

LotusClover · 19/05/2020 18:35

They're definitely too similar. How about:

Elodie
Evie
Evelyn
Eden
Emily
Emilia

daisypond · 19/05/2020 18:37

I think they are too similar. Henrietta, with Etta for short?

Thanks all! We are struggling with girls names this is the only one we both love, others I like or my husband does! Its so much harder 2nd time around

I know a brother and sister called John and Jane, and it's fine.
Don't call her Henrietta unless you like it.
What do you like about the name Etta?

user495275 · 19/05/2020 20:59

You could have Lauretta or Floretta, with Etta as a nickname. Here's some other random suggestions:

Lara
Adela
Beth
Kate
Rose
Kelly
Darcy
Isla
Cecily
Anya
Sadie
Millie
Lacey
Erin
Molly
Aria
Jade
Heidi

Bree

We just can't agree on any others! Ha. Not set on a E name but would like something unusual without being made up! Was looming at biblical names to go with Ezra but don't like any of the female ones!

I really love Ettie but couldn't agree on a longer name. I love Violet but my husband wasn't keen. I think Violet and Ezra are lovely together and could be shortened to Etta.
Luckily we had another boy as we were really struggling to find a girl's name we all love. Saying that, he was nameless for over a week!!

DramaAlpaca · 19/05/2020 22:54

Too similar I think. Hettie instead maybe?

Mish85 · 20/05/2020 04:42

How about Ettie? I think without the A could work with Ezra

OnABeachSomewhere · 20/05/2020 05:14

Julietta
Kitty
Carlotta
Jessica
Anneka
Violetta
Arabella

bates01 · 20/05/2020 05:26

One of my good friends has a Violet so thats out but it os gorgeous! I also like Ettie but don't want anythibg ending in a Y / ie! Plus don't want anything that can be shortened so I'm limiting options I know!
