Two syllable names ending in A

PicnicHamper · 18/05/2020 08:15

I already have three kids with names of two syllables ending in A. They are very different names but do follow that pattern.

Now pregnant with number 4 and it would seem odd to have one child with a very different rhythm to the name.

Current ideas include Thea, Emma, Willa, Frieda, Greta for girls and Oscar and Jonah for boys.

Any other suggestions?

I'm going to be "that person" and say: many names ending in an r after a vowel only sound like -a in certain accents. May not matter - you live where you live! - but possibly worth considering.

On the boy front (I think you already have a lot of great choices for a girl):
Asta
Dara (Dáire, Darragh)
Ilia/Ilya
Ira
Misha
Sasha
Shasta

Would you consider 3 syllables ending in a?
Aquila
Columba
Elijah
Isaiah
Joshua
.... and two of my guilty-pleasures boy names: Akiva and Ventura.

Koda for a boy means last born apparently, could be apt depending on if you plan more!

LizzieAnt · 18/05/2020 13:16

I agree with @Maduixa that anyone with a rhotic accent will pronounce the final 'r' in Oscar, Caspar, Jasper, Xander, Harper etc. Just to keep that in mind Smile
