Does this work with our surname?

So Freya is pretty much the only name I really love for Baby 3. However I keep thinking It doesn’t work with our surname which is Saker.

Does Freya Saker sound okay? I can’t decide if I’m over thinking. Thanks

Does it rhyme with baker? If so you're right, it does sound a bit weird. Freya is a lovely name though.

Frankiegoestocornwall · 15/05/2020 19:02

I don’t like it but I can’t decide why

FizzyGreenWater · 15/05/2020 19:03

Mmmm not really I'm afraid. It's clunky, you have to say it rather slowly for it to not just sound like one odd word. I wouldn't, sorry.

In fact I would avoid any name ending in -a with that surname, the 'a' will always run straight into the 's' to make an 'as' sound in the middle. It jars.

Tamarasnotmyname · 15/05/2020 19:04

You’re over thinking it. Freya is a lovely name and if you love it then that’s all that matters.

CuppaZa · 15/05/2020 19:04

No it does sound quite strange I’m afraid

Beeep · 15/05/2020 19:05

I think it’s nice. It’s a bit clunky but I don’t think that matters. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Cara200 · 15/05/2020 19:19

I would avoid due to F Sake(r)

Finnemoo · 15/05/2020 19:25

I can’t see the issue? Freya is a lovely name, unless I’m missing something obvious I think it sounds fine with your surname.

Crystal87 · 15/05/2020 21:16

No. It sounds like fucks sake.

candle18 · 15/05/2020 21:23

Freya is a nice name but I don’t think it goes, sorry.

MamaDane · 15/05/2020 21:29

Sounds good enough for me. Don't overthink it if you love the name.

HarrysMummy17 · 15/05/2020 21:39

If your set on Freya you could double barrel the first name?
I've seen it so often recently.

FizzyGreenWater · 16/05/2020 13:23

Oh god yes! F. Saker = Fuck's Saker!

No no no.

Lordfrontpaw · 16/05/2020 13:26

sah-cahr or Say-Kerr?

SummerHouse · 16/05/2020 13:26

I am actually saying for Freya Saker now instead of FFS. That works really well.

emmathedilemma · 16/05/2020 15:36

If Freya rhymes with baker than no, it’s just a mouthful of sounds that aren’t easy to say and don’t work well together. I don’t think you can really use anything ending in an a sound with that surname. What about Florence?

Whatsyourflava · 16/05/2020 16:59

You're overthinking
Freya is lovely and works perfectly

PickUpAPickUpAPenguin · 16/05/2020 17:00

Too close to F(uck's) Sake(r)

Thisismytimetoshine · 16/05/2020 17:01

Oh God, it really doesn't 😬. And Freya is a really beautiful name...

Blursula · 16/05/2020 17:05

I agree with @Whatsyourflava - totally overthinking it. It’s a huge stretch to say it sounds anything like ‘fuck sake’. Absolutely fine - i would go for it
