I am really anxious and stressed, please be kind. I am currently worrying myself sick over names. I have two different styles and am completely torn which to go for. I posted about the name Tom and wasn’t clear so I thought I would try to write another with a full list to get some help. I don’t want a name that is really popular or that is likely to become extremely popular and I feel like I have looked at every possible name now. Help would be much appreciated
I so far have these names:
Rupert
Felix
Monty
Dominic
Peter
Frank
Drew
Joe
Guy
Tom

You have a lovely list! None are super popular

Peter or Felix Or Frank I recon

Sorted 😍

MikeUniformMike · 15/05/2020 15:49

From your list I like Tom, short for Thomas, Peter, and Guy. I'd gladly name a DS any of those.

Joe short for Joseph is fine. Felix is ok. Monty is a bit of a pet's name, as is Felix.

Rupert is ok for a bear but I didn't like Rupert Bear anyway.
Dominic sounds a bit wet, and Raab and Cummings, and Big Bad Dom, so a plain No from me.

Frank is Frank Butcher and Drew is Drew Barrymore, so both are No. They aren't awful if short for Francis and Andrew.

missyB1 · 15/05/2020 15:56

Felix, Frank, and Joe are lovely names. Stay away from Monty it’s a dog’s name, I know 5 (yes 5) dogs called Monty!

Other suggestions:
Patrick
Joel
Conal
Hugh
Christian

FerneGreene · 15/05/2020 15:58

Peter!

Lovely classic name and not too popular at all Smile

Thanks for the help so far xx

Dominic or Joseph (Joe)

Orphlids · 15/05/2020 18:41

Ah, sorry to hear you’re feeling stressed. You can stop worrying, you have a good list! I’m not keen on Drew, I like all the others. You said your taste sometimes is for posh / wet names - how about Tristan? It is quite posh, with maybe just a dash of wet. It was on my list for if we were having another boy.

123Dancewithme · 16/05/2020 00:34

Peter, Tom or Joe

DramaAlpaca · 16/05/2020 00:37

I like all your list with the exception of Rupert and Frank.

My favourites are Dominic, Peter and Tom.

AllRainbowsAndUnicorns · 16/05/2020 08:33

My faves are Felix and Dominic.

Dominic is quite romantic, and then Nic is a punchy, masculine shortening. DH wouldn't let me have it as he grew up with a female Dominique so saw it as a girl's name.

wishing3 · 16/05/2020 09:28

I like Dominic, Joe,Guy and Tom and I can’t imagine your son will feel like he’s got a ‘wet’ name growing up with any of them!

moonset · 16/05/2020 09:33

Peter

obsessingovernames · 16/05/2020 09:49

So grateful for all your responses xx

I know it probably won't help you but I like all your names, I don't think you can go wrong 😊

singswithitsfingers · 16/05/2020 14:55

Two babies named Felix in my office in the last three months (and my office isn't huge). It's nice but I think it will be very popular.

applecrumbs · 16/05/2020 16:15

I think Felix is a cat name and drew is a bit common.

I like all the others but Joseph not joe. Peter feels dated but I hope it comes back :). Frank is a great name, I know a little Frank and he's a real character

CeibaTree · 16/05/2020 17:12

I love Felix and Tom. Dominic is a nice name but just reminds me of Dominic Cummings now! Felix was a contender for us and other names we liked were Silas, Jasper, Otto, Zachary and Seth :)

finallychangedmyusername · 16/05/2020 17:54

Nice list! I love Dominic, Peter and Rupert.

user1493494961 · 16/05/2020 22:25

Dominic or Peter

candle18 · 16/05/2020 22:31

From your list I like Joe and Tom and would have Joseph and Thomas as their ‘proper’ name.

candle18 · 16/05/2020 22:32

Also like Joel

obsessingovernames · 17/05/2020 08:36

Not so keen on Guy or Drew - and Rupert maybe a bit try-hard/tough for the child to carry off - but the others are all great.

How about Kit as another option?

obsessingovernames · 17/05/2020 08:54

@Sourcat that would have been my first choice but it has been used by someone close to us. I think it's such a handsome name xx
