Eve

Hi all - me again! Since my second post with an updated list I've done some reading into the charts and trajectory of names. I came across Eve, which on the face of it, I would've assumed would be booming in popularity. Actually, it's not, it's actually on a downward trajectory.

What do you think of Eve? Do you think it's a little bland compared to my earlier suggestions and aside our boy names? I think DH would definitely go for it but wanted to get some opinions first.

Does anyone else feel like MN is the only place they can get some good opinions (the bad and the ugly too 😂) I can't discuss with family so I'm sorry for yet another post, I hope you can forgive me!

😘

Eve is virtually unheard of amongst babies today. It's been taken over by the highly popular Eva and Evie. It's too plain and bland sounding for me. It's still a nice name, though. You should go for it. Keep in mind though she could become Evie. Lots of people tend to lengthen names they can't shorten.

I absolutely love it. I posted a thread about it on here a while ago as I was considering it for DD2. It seems to not be as popular as Ava, Eva, Evie etc, but is likely to blend in with those sort of names and not really stand out much. Don't let that put you off though if you really like it, it's classic and beautiful.

Whatsyourflava · 13/05/2020 09:34

I really love it. Never met one

JonHammIsMyJamm · 13/05/2020 09:40

Eve is lovely. Simple, elegant and works for all age groups.

pippapegga · 13/05/2020 09:41

Gorgeous, classy, simple.

We have an Eve. She's the only one in her school, and the only other one I know is in her 60s. She does get people calling her Evie - either because they just assume that's her name, as it's so popular, or as a nickname, but she's always been very quick to correct them. It suits her personality tbh.

It baffles me when it's always listed on here as "far too popular", when it's not even in the top 100.

Helskitchen · 13/05/2020 10:00

I was one of those people that thought it was far too popular. I couldn't believe it was 183 on the charts. It's a shame that Evie is so high, especially if people will add the ie to Eve generally.

Choosing names has made me realise that I'm going to be one of those mothers who corrects everyone each time they say their name wrong 😂

My cousin has an Eve. There's one at school too with my eldest, to be honest it gets lost in the whole Ava, Evie swarm for me. I get there's beauty in it's simplicity though 😊.

123Dancewithme · 13/05/2020 10:28

Lovely

MikeUniformMike · 13/05/2020 11:07

It's nice. I don't like Eva, Ava, Evelyn, ... but Eve and Evie are lovely.

It will be lost amongst all the other names though,
I know 2 adult Eves.

Twisique · 13/05/2020 11:34

Lovely

toastofthetown · 13/05/2020 11:40

Although Eve itself is on a downward trajectory, it’s not that distinct from names like Evie, Evelyn, Eva, Ava, Ivy... which are all in the top 100. An Eve would get lost in all the similar sounding names. It’s a lovely name though, and I much prefer it to Evie.

Edenember · 13/05/2020 21:32

@Helskitchen I adore the name Eve, was my absolute bestest favourite name for years and was vetoed for my daughter by my now ex. I’d had my heart set on it. Beautiful name. Simple and not very common yet everyone knows how to say and spell.

DramaAlpaca · 13/05/2020 22:07

Eve is just beautiful, simple and classic.

mathanxiety · 13/05/2020 22:15
