Thoughts on this name? It’s the hardest thing ever picking and even thinking of middle name

I was also drawn to Layla, but I am not sure...

This is my daughters name so obviously I love it. Names are personal choice.

Ooh I love it. It’s my girls name if I ever have one but I would spell it Lyla. Only because some people would pronounce Lila as lee-la instead of lie-la.

I like it but I would also spell it Lyla. It looks nicer to me and would make the pronunciation clearer.

From experience you need to expect people to say

'Is it Leeee-la?'

'Is that L-y-l-a?'

'Fan of oasis are you?' - apparently there's an oasis song called Lyla but I didn't know that when I had my daughter.

Not gonna lie, I got the name from the Sweet valley high books I adored as a kid 😂

I haven’t heard of it before. I wouldn’t have a clue if it was pronounced Leela, Lih-la or Lie-la so I’m not surprised people are confused at first, but it’s easy enough when you say it. Is it as in short for Delilah?

I'm more familiar with the spelling Lilah but I like the name.

If you want it pronounced Lie-la I suggest you spell it Lyla

Same. I dont know whether to say 'Leeela' or 'Lyla', but I like both to be honest. She will just probably have to correct people about the pronunciation.

If you want the Lyla pronunciation but don't want to spell it with a Y, you could also consider Lilah because then it looks like Delilah so I think people would be more likely to pronounce it that way.

I have a Lyla so I'm biased. We haven't met any other Lyla's so seems to be fairly uncommon. She does get called Layla a lot and I do wish that bloody Oasis song didn't exist but I still love the name!

no I haven’t! I’d never thought to spell it like Lyla. Lie-la is much nicer than Lee-la in my opinion!!

However Layla - Eric chaplan may have put me off that.

we already have this problem of mispronunciation with our daughter, she’s called Sara and is always mistook for Sarah!!

personally I have never liked this name, reminds of those lillets tampons, or an inflatable lilo, but I know that it is a popular name.

I know a Lill-a which is a very old name.

There are lots of two syllable ---a names at school which, when said in a row all blend together and sound unoriginal

It's Ok. Nothing offensive about it. But there's a few similar sounding names about - you can't move for Lola's and Leila/Layla's around my area....

I really like it. Always been one of my favourites. It can be spelt Lila, Lilah or Lyla. Personally my favourite spelling is Lila. I don't think it's a dull name at all it's really pretty.
