Any ideas on middle names for Louis?

We've used any names that are meaningful to us so haven't got anything like that other than my DH's name and he's not keen!

Are you pronouncing it Lewis or Louey?

needausername99 · 09/05/2020 14:54

@emmathedilemma it would be pronounced Louey.

Thanks for the suggestions so far, I like Louis Theodore (Theodore was another first name idea for us) and DH really likes Louis Benjamin Smile

William

needausername99 · 09/05/2020 15:24

I like William but DH not so much. Oh Jacob is another one we both like so have a shortlist of 3 now!

@needausername99 I think Louis Theodore is perfect. Louis Benedict?

finallychangedmyusername · 09/05/2020 16:25

Louis William is a little hard to say. A lot of "w".

Louis Tobias
Louis Jonathan
Louis Samuel
Louis Nicholas
Louis Nathaniel

I really like Louis Benjamin.

I think we're down to two:

Louis Theodore from me
Louis Benjamin from DH

On a separate note, would you spell Louis as I have or would you go Louie?

Louis.

Definitely.

needausername99 · 09/05/2020 21:23

Thanks @ThroughThickAndThin01 that's what I was going with but made me wonder as someone checked the pronunciation up thread so wasnt sure if he would end up getting 'Lewis' more.

Louis is the proper french spelling so I'd stick with it. If a couple of people misspell it they will promptly be corrected when they hear it.

Seaweed42 · 09/05/2020 23:13

James

Kitchendoctor · 09/05/2020 23:15

I would go with Louie as people will pronounce the s and he/you will be forever correcting them.

Aclh13 · 10/05/2020 01:02

Louis benjamin is a better name imo, also I have a few friends called louis its quite french, but louie is cuter and easier to spot x

BettyUnderswoob · 10/05/2020 02:11

Theodore and Benjamin are both fantastic... you can’t go wrong with one of those.

My personal preference is Louis Benjamin though.

BettyUnderswoob · 10/05/2020 02:12

And definitely Louis, not Louie... Louie looks illiterate.

Grufallosfriends · 10/05/2020 08:08

Louie is pronounced Lou-ie

Louis is pronounced Lou-is to n most countries outside of France. Eg Louis is popular in Germany where it's pronounced Lou-is. And n America the city of St Louis is pronounced Lou-is.

I think Louie is the more popular spelling in the Uk now?
