Help with name choice

I have a difficult 4 letter surname that rhymes with an offensive word which is making baby name choosing very difficult
I have a 2 year old named Sophie and it flows well but any of the names I like for our next baby sound rude or cruel
We really like Ellie but I worry it will sound like ‘elephant’ out loud and she would get bullied, am I right or am I overthinking it?
The majority of other names that flow well with the surname are already in use by my husbands family (8 children and 17 grandchildren so far!) and there aren’t many names I actually like, help!

Can you share the surname unless I'm missing the obvious clue... that will help! :)

DesiDiva2020 · 09/05/2020 10:41

Hunt...

DesiDiva2020 · 09/05/2020 10:44

I agree I would steer clear of Ellie...
Maybe
Amelia
Alice
Rose
Claire
Annabelle (and all its nicknames)
Amy
Elizabeth - all nicknames / Eliza
Alanna

Alice

Eloise
Rebecca
Hannah
Rosalie
Eleanor

I feel like 3 syllables leaves less margin for error with the surname... Eliza, Adelaide, Eloise, Cecily, Harriet, Helena or Elena, Louisa, Romilly, Eleanor as another poster has suggested.

Fiflowertot · 09/05/2020 11:05

Elsie instead of Ellie maybe?

Sophiesmummy20 · 09/05/2020 11:35

Thanks everyone I love Elsie so thanks for that suggestion

We have a tough surname too op so understand your pain! How about Olivia, Fern, Elodie, Eleanor, Elizabeth, nicola, Harriet or Edith (Eddie).

LotusClover · 09/05/2020 11:57

I'd stay away from Ellie. How about:

Ellen

Eden
Emily

3 syllable names might be better, are there any you like?

Sophiesmummy20 · 10/05/2020 11:17

Thanks everyone I quite like Charlotte but the C initial might be a bit cruel?
DH has said no to Elsie but likes Kelsie but again a K initial, this is so hard Envy

Madeleine? I know sisters called Sophie and Madeleine and I think they go well together

Alwaysundecided · 10/05/2020 17:52

I would definitely steer clear of a C or K. I agree that longer names work well. If you like Elsie that works well. You seem to like vowelly, soft names.
Layla, Elodie, Mila? I personally like longer names with your surname but it is very much personal taste and it's important you choose a name you love not just one that 'goes'. Good luck!

Whar about Elouise? Or Louise?
